The Stockport game has given me renewed optimism. We finally looked like the quick passing, forward thinking team that I've been reading that Burchnall is all about on here. I don't buy the theory that Stockport were a poor team, I think we were a good team. It will take a lot more than one game for me to join any bandwagons, I just hope the optimism remains at this time tomorrow.Quote:

Taking a few comments on here and youtubers wanting to drop him for no reason, I'm beginning to think Ruben Rodrigues is under-appreciated in some quarters. For all that he's given us, consistently, since he came back into the team on May 1st at Altrincham, it shouldn't be doubted he's our best player (I even got some pushback on that when I posted it a couple of months ago).
Taking nothing away from Frank though, what a start to his Notts career. I've been struggling to find a player comparison for him from recent Notts history (best I can do is Draper, which is a great compliment and an improvement on Rushcliffe loanees :) ). What's even more exciting is how he combines with Ruben, their understanding after only two games. Exciting times
If he turns out to be the new Draper we'll all be very happy. Fingers crossed. Imagine if (or when) IB figures out how to include Kyle, Ruben, Frank and Cal in the same team in a consistently effective manner. We'd be unplayable in attack with Palmer pulling strings and feeding them.Quote:

As AC rightly points out his return to the side in the latter stages of last season when he was on fire. This season is productivity has remained impressively high with goals and assists (will perhaps let 'The Stat Man' Richard confirm both) , he's a gem of a player.
Not surprised you got pushback , it wasn't too long ago I got mocked for saying he was a moneymaker for the club with real sell on potential.

The Halifax subbing was a key part of the disaster. All their energies would've have spent being angry with him and he'd have continued to take the game to them. Instead, we took off our best player and voila 0-2 becomes 3-2 against 10 men.
That's the last I'm ever going to say about that match, promise :)
Interestingly at the time the Radio Nottingham commentary team (believe it was Charlie Slater) praised the decision to take off RR due to the flak he was getting, the anger/energy in the game.
Hindsight is such a wonderful thing.
