Someone with the wealth of Patrick and I suspect the wealth of the Rotherham owner end up being too wealthy for League 1 but not wealthy enough for the Championship.

They tried it - and it’s looking like it’s failed.

IMO - if / when we do get relegated these owners will continue with the overall strategy but they will adapt it slightly.

The Barnsley owners are using a completely different business model to that of most (all?) owners of other Championship clubs.
They are not throwing money at the club and hoping for the best e.g. Sheffield Wednesday, Derby, Reading etc etc etc.
Even if Barnsley are relegated the owners may lose £££millions in lost revenue - but the club itself will not be buried under a mountain of debt.
In those circumstances the club should in theory be able to bounce back quickly.

My bugbear with the owners is that they shouldn’t have been so stinggy and mean to put Barnsley in this position in the first place.

I don’t think anyone is happy with these owners.
And I’m sure they are not so thrilled with themselves.
Last season gave them a solid platform to work from - and they have made a proper dog’s dinner out of it.
Under the circumstances of supporter unrest - a Paul Conway interview wouldn’t go amiss.

You continually make the mistake of thinking allegedly wealthier people are somehow the best people to run this club .

The same as the electorate believes an Eton and Oxford education makes you better placed to run the country .

Well I highlight this because the country and our club are considerably linked as things stand right now .

The country is heading towards failed State territory and our club is in its worst position since 1972 .

Competence and integrity are what I'm looking for not feckwits and chancers who believe they can rinse a profit without risking a penny of their own money .

If you believe the current ownership will use their own money to turn this club around then good luck with that .

Just how many times do you have to be pillocked before the penny finally drops ?

The club will more than likely be left with debts and the owners won’t lose millions.

They won’t cover loses with Personal loans and write debt off like Cryne did. The only thing that will go down is the value of their investment…. Which they are paying for with club funds, got on the cheap and still haven’t paid the full amount

Read a piece by Elon Musk tuther day saying the best people to distribute money is those that’s amassed it.

As previously stated - these owners are here to develop the club and players and hopefully make a profit.
That should be good news for all of us because if they achieve that it means we have a successful club.

They are not here to shovel £££millions into the club hoping that their gamble will get them to the promised land of the Premier.

Ive got to say I prefer the former to the later strategy.

BUT - I also expect a limited priming the pump exercise to be carried out to make sure that the young players have good experienced leaders playing alongside them - which means of course using financial investments from the owners to secure those experienced players.

If the owners had done that - and not tinkered with tactics - then we would have continued from where we left off last season.

Whatever happens moving forward these owners will have a variety of levers at their disposal that they will use to turn things around.
They will not let the club drift and lose £££millions of income.
Would you ?

And that’s the difference between this type of owner - and the owner at S6 who’s strategy is simply to throw vast amounts of money at the project.
Until the day comes when the pot is dry.

Paul Conway may have been bullish after last season - but the directors will be looking at each other sheepishly right now as they look to lose £££millions of income through relegation and as things stand the value of each player is reducing week on week.

Us supporters feel bad because we love our club.
The directors will feel bad as they see £££millions flowing down the drain.

You have just contradicted yourself on a previous comment about the owners and their "spending".

True.
That’s what I’m saying.
The owners have reinvested money generated by the club - back into the club.
Which is basically the model - money generated by the club is reinvested back into the club until the club is at a level where they are able to offload it for a huge profit.

If the club is relegated then that spiral is going down - not up.
That is to say the club and player values are going down.
Money that these owners have redirected back into the club is LOSING money.

And if fans watch the club on the slide - especially with NO personal investment coming from the owners - then the fans will walk away.
Consequently there is less and less money going back into the club and the club finds itself going nowhere.

The model has clearly failed to deliver.
Barnsley fans will not wait years to see if this experimental model works.
They won’t accept what we have witnessed so far this season.

I hope the owners make a huge profit when they eventually sell the club.
But that profit should not be made on the backs of ordinary Barnsley fans.
The owners have the wealth to turn things around if they want to.
It’s up to the owners to show their commitment to Barnsley and Barnsley Football Club
But until they do that - then I won’t be buying another season ticket.
