Buying club need a keeper now.
So they wont loan him back or come in for him again in the summer.
Dubs had never been on big money, for a footballer that is, so if the deal is off now, then this Saudi team wont buy him in the summer.
Any deal, to a PIF club, would would have to be evaluated as an ATP no chance in hell they are approving us getting 8m (or whatever) and keeping the player till the summer when he would be available on a free.
Dubs wants to play, is he going to be kept between the sticks when Pope is back? Howes history suggest he prefers Pope over Dubs.
Dubs will be 36 next week, not massively old for a keeper but his options will still be limited in the summer if that is the arrangement.
If we are offering a new contract longer than the summer then we have 3 keepers with Pope, Vlach and Dubs and likely still want a new 1st choice keeper (likes of the Trafford rumour) so that holds up the new keeper and leaves us needing to still shift at least 1 keeper on.
Short term, Id want to keep Dubs over Pope, but money is obviously tight and I just dont know how to balance a short term Dubs (maybe very short term depending what Eddie does when Pope is fit) against a space in the squad and some funds to spend while keeping this years PSR numbers sweet.
Can point to what impact Dubs might have (if kept between the sticks) but got to balance that with what impact another first team player could have.
