His business ventures didn?t end well, I agree. He?s a very decent pundit I?d argue, though.

He is as good as the majority of them I suppose.
Not really a difficult job criticising others and being negative all the time.
Roy Keane gets a lot of praise for telling it like it is but he wasnt the best manager in the world himself.
Willie Miller is entitled to his opinion like the rest of us though and that includes red john but some people need to be a bit more realistic.
Theres nobody in the world coming in and going to make us win every game and play other teams off the park week in week out.
He does though. We have the third largest by a distance (currently) so anything below third is surely a failure?
I dont like Celtic but I am honest enough to say that Rodgers is doing his job there. His team play a far more attractive game than us. They attack better, they defend better and they win the trophies in this country. He and his players do their job .we however dont. We make life very easy for them because we refuse to work harder.
Every single one of us is desperate to win the Scottish Cup. The older posters here will remember how we put up a great fight (for any trophy) and how the team tried extremely hard and pushed themselves against the odds.
What would we give to see Thelins Aberdeen team win that cup against Celtic. Its more than doable but we must work harder than them right until that final whistle goes from now on in.
We must prepare a hell of a lot stronger and better than anything previously this season.
There will be at least 20,000 fans there wanting to see us have a real go at them.
Lets put Brendan Rodgers under real scrutiny and pressure by winning the cup. Lets see how they cope. Am I dreaming or is it a possibility?
The answer is with Jimmy Thelin his coaching team and his players. They need to be giving it their all.
We will see exactly how prepared and how hard they are willing to push themselves when that game gets underway.
Thelin is under more pressure than Rodgers. Rodgers has the better squad so we need to have the better manager to give ourselves a fighting chance.
Not at all and I suggest you are the one who is stuck in a bigger hole.
I think Rodgers would have us playing far better football than we currently do. Do you think Thelin would have Celtic as commanding in our league as they currently do? Thelin wasnt ever considered for their job because he wasnt ever good enough and thats the harsh reality. He wasnt second choice to Barry Robson here so have a think about that.
No point arguing that Thelin is somewhat a better manager than Rodgers when the evidence suggests Thelin is nowhere near the same quality.
The pressure is definitely more on Thelin going into this cup final than Rodgers. Celtic will not be getting a doing from an Aberdeen led Thelin team. Where Aberdeen could easily get a severe doing from a Rodgers led Celtic team.
Any manager in our bad Scottish league could lead Aberdeen out in that cup final for a doing. Not everyone of them would win multiple trebles for Celtic (i would actually suggest none of them would).
Rodgers is the best manager in the country so lets not kid ourselves on and suggest anyone could do his job as accomplished.
For what its worth i would take great pleasure seeing Jimmy Turnip prove me wrong but I am clear favourite to be spot on in my prediction that its Celtics cup to throw away.
I never said Thelin was a better manager than Brendan Rodgers but theres no doubt at all that Thelin would easily win the league with Celtic and Brendan Rodgers would do no better than 3rd if he was our manager.
Jimmy Thelin will be our manager next season whatever happens this season,Cormack thinks the sun shines out of his arse and will be very reluctant to sack him after spending so long trying to get him here.
I said after the 0-0 draw with St Johnstone that Thelin will be under more pressure next season from the fans if he continues to get disappointing results and quite rightly so but from what I have heard the board will be persevering with Thelin for the foreseeable future unless we are in a horrendous situation.
Brendan Rodgers is currently on ?3 million per year.
If Aberdeen appointed him as our manager, we would have a transfer budget of at least negative ?2 million ... and rather than sign top players, we would need to sign something like 3 Sam Cosgroves for ?20k and sell for ?2 million EVERY year ...
So ... No! Brendan Rodgers would not make us a better team ... in fact, administration would be a more likely outcome.
If you dare to speculate whilst downplaying, let alone ignoring, the current financial gulf, then you are destined to spik pish.
He's best ignored min.
You can't get through to him on the money side. It's all about being lazy.
I think, whilst it's been a tad frustrating this season, it has been successful overall.
We have made the top six and one cup semi (albeit we got pumped) and have another final to contest.
We have implemented a style of play that is a joy to watch when it works and frustrating as f*ck when it doesn't.
We have improved the quality of the squad, but still work to be done on that front. We can't just buy the right personnel in two windows.
Jimmy isn't going anywhere, unless he decides to quit of his own accord.
Dave C loves him and I think most of us can see improvements.
Jimmy also speaks a lot of sense after games. He firstly told us we were overachieving during the winning run and never got carried away. He also never blames anyone else for the sh*tshows and is frustrated as the rest of us.
It could all very well go t*ts up next season and Jimmy does depart, but I'll happily stick with Jimmy, than worry about what some of our bi-polar fan base think. Especially our resident troll on here
I think most people can see that Thelin has had a decent fight season. Hopefully we win the Scottish cup but even if we dont finishing 4th with a cup final and reaching the semi final in the league cup is not bad for his first year.
Obviously next season he will have to improve on certain things. We have lost 3 times to St Mirren this season and thats not good enough, apart from the draw against Celtic we have put in our usual poor performances against them.
Im not entirely convinced it?s down to the style of play, we played hoofball under Robson but still lost to St Mirren and got ripped apart by Celtic numerous times.
Thelin needs to find a way to exploit these teams weaknesses like they do against us.
I've said all season, that our game working is based on our wide players. St Mirren and other teams stop us playing this way.
We still passed the ball around yesterday and retained possession, but we were shyte in the final third and it kills us.
I'm convinced a couple of quality wide players and a number 10 would go a long way to ensure we can get past St Mirren and other anti fitba teams.
Getting the said players is easier said than done.
I've also said before, that despite our record against them being poor over recent seasons, I'd much rather have Jimmy at the helm, than the wee leprechaun Robinson and his eye bleeding football any day of the week.
