What do you think the club should have done?

There is no reason to rush this decision let us see how hamshaw and warrington get on. The issue isn't the next manager though it is what should the club do to structure itself for the post 2025 era. If we do not address issues like the use and development of youth, contract management and training/medical capabilities then we could well be in the same boat this time next season.
SE and PR were a disaster this time round, but they are not the only issue at RUFC.
So for now it's Hamshaw and Warrington. First thing Hammy should do is recall the youth players Evans cast aside and get them back to look at them and make a call on them himself.
Injury wise we are thread bare at the moment so youth could be a key element in some games. Also, clean slate new Manager, Hammy should also take a look at using Hugill somewhere in these last 8 games, afterall, he's got him for a full season next time around. To be fair to Hugill he wasn't playing that bad in his last 3 appearances before Evans mysteriously dropped him again?
The management team's job is also to build/compile identify players for a squad for next season. Presumably Hammy and Wozza will have their idea's on what's required but, if implemented, may not coincide with the thoughts of new management team (if it's not going to be them going forward).
