Absolute tripe...I’m suggesting a delay...not a reversal.

It may have escaped your attention but we had the worst incidence of Covid in the whole of Europe. We have more to come back from and should be working with the rest of Europe - and the World - to overcome Covid, not in some sort of competition.

As most business leaders agree, now is not the time to proceed with Brexit. You’re just frightened that somehow a ‘delay’ equates to an abandonment...a view apparently shared by our narcissistic leader who is just concerned about delaying his ‘Let’s get Brexit done’ vanity project.

We've had it all from legal challenges/protests/MP blockages/ house of Lords blockages/ demands for more votes and on and on and on.

Unless a leaver says, we need a rethink, no one will trust any of you.

I suggest you listen to the EU parliament conversations. Their discontent at the lack of a deal is growing.

On an off note, did you take note of Verhofstadt this week? I don't particularly like the man, as he's a hardened federalist. Yet had to agree with him this week. His slaughtering of Merkel and Germany over China, was spot on.
The EU chief suggested "Selling cars" to China was "More important" to Germany than taking a "Firm stance" on Beijing.

His remarks come as German Chancellor Angela Merkel comes under increasing amounts of pressure to do more to defend Hong Kong over China's controversial new security law.



Mrs Merkel is said to have taken a light touch approach to China because of Germany's huge trade reliance on the country.

The criticism comes after it was believed Germany would take a hardline approach against China when it resumed the rotating presidency of the European Union.

Ms Merkel previously said of China: "We have a trade relationship, but we have different societal and political views, particularly when it comes to human rights and the rule of law."

Cummings and Bumble have made it clear that they will not go down the Trump route and impose trade and financial sanctions on China . Much easier to just offer sanctuary to 150,000 Hong Kong citizens

European leaders have condemned China’s decision to bring in a sweeping new security law in Hong Kong aimed at stamping out protests in the semi-autonomous territory.

The European Council said the legislation enacted by Beijing on Tuesday was “deplorable”, while the European Commission said it would seriously damage China’s reputation around the world.

“This law risks seriously undermining the high degree of autonomy of Hong Kong and having a detrimental effect on the independence of the judiciary and rule of law, and we deplore this decision,” said European Council President Charles Michel.

So on one hand we have the United States of Europe and in the other, Merkel says as long as it doesn't effect us.

It's your own doing. I'll say again, if you lot had an ounce of democratic decency in you, it would have been done and dusted 2 years ago.

Perhaps you should just stick to the point and answer...is it a good idea to still aim for the Brexit negotiations to be completed by the end of the year given the current and ongoing national and international health and financial crises, and if so why? Maybe then you’d be worth listening to.

Yes all that condemnation from the EU you hate No point to miss if you don't want to be in EU then don't expect them fight our battles for us She only doing the same as our government putting trade and finance first Of course we deplore what is going on there but if all our PM can come up with is an open door to the Hong Kong residents then it's time he stood down Perhaps you would like to tell us what Cummings should tell him to do At the end of the day there's very little you can do to anybody when you need them more than they need you

I’ll provide a sensible answer and that’s no it’s not, but the transition shouldn’t go on forever, maybe end 2021. Gotta say some of the more in denial Remainers are starting to find their voice again and HMG will want to slap that development down for reason nothing more complex than protecting their position in power
