Health and safety guidelines over here for HSE employees is that you can expect at most 3 months immunity from SARS-CoV2. After which it is not impossible for a person to be reinfected. Evidence on the ground is that antibodies produced by the body can multiply and help protect the body for about 3 months.....but that it is possible to be reinfected, with different symptoms. At the moment the evidence does not point to just a flare up from original infection. But still early days. Some cases of reinfection have been put down to just a flare up again...but very early.
So if you test positive for the infection and have mild symptoms and recover...it is possible over 3 months later you could either get reinfected or indeed be suffering a flare up. There is also tentative evidence that the virus can remain hidden in the body without been detected. There is lots going on with this SARS-CoV2. So I can see why hospitals over here are getting concerned about our own increase in infections. We have put some counties into 2 week lockdowns now.
The other morning I was getting up (05:15) and it was much darker then previous mornings...Autumn is coming.....
I’ve been counting the weeks down Dubs.......as much as anything because for my business it is critical we don’t have a autumn and winter lockdown.
Any advice on what’s the best month to have the flu jab at the moment?
I normally have mine at the end of September or early October but I heard the other day that they seem to be doing some people at the moment.
Getting a lot more cases over here.....crowds at sporting now going backwards.....too much SARS-CoVid2 out there...hospitals still showing stable as infections start to rise.....profile certainly changed to most cases coming in under 40 years of age with the infection now....as of now the virus hasn't mutated and is remaining successful in the population at large.
The idea of slow down in Summer is gone...as it hasn't happened. The idea of waves is also gone .....a bit like holding the view of the atom being a small solar system put forward years a go by (I think) Rutherford the Australian physicists...very outdated view.....
Irish Government very concerned about Public Health now.........going to have to be rethinks across the Globe on this one me thinks....
Crowds being allowed back into non league football in England I believe at around 17% of capacity.
I still maintain that without a vaccine the only answer is to build up resources within health provision across the world to allow the natural course of events to transpire.
Live as normal as possible if you don’t have health issues or vulnerable people within your immediate family.
You’re the expert on here Dubs but I just don’t see any other way forward?
I just signed up to the NHS Coronavirus vaccine trial. Mrs P is a district nurse and it was hell out in the community and care homes during the first peak, anything I can do to help I will, for one I am happy to trial a vaccine in the UK, until we get a vaccine or at least an effective treatment for symptoms we are in serious trouble...

Is the flu jab really that effective with so many strains? Are flu jabs recommended for those with a weaker immune systems as some people rarely ever have flu/colds so in that case would there be any point in the jab? Just wondering as read so many positive and negative views on this! Bit like the MMR - some parents rush to have it done for their kids as its follow the leader where others don't as so many parents are of the view there's a link to autism and campaigning groups are rife!
My late grandfather used to say - fresh air - keep the windows open - brisk walks and don't pump anything into you unless it's for serious pain relief ( not hangovers ). Rightly or wrongly but it worked for him.
Let's hope the government use the offers of help out there. I know 3 people, one a final year medical student who all volunteered their services to help out in the community during lockdown with shopping and home visits to the elderly etc and whatever else the government asked for help with. Not one person ever had a reply to the online application forms they submitted.
I know someone else who is the production manager at a plastics factory. They badgered the government repeatedly as they could easily tool up to produce high quantity face shields and masks. Ditto. No one ever responded to them. We instead imported millions of pounds of useless tat from Turkey. I think the way volunteers and companies offering their services have been treated by this government is dispicable tbh.
