Ah, would that my enjoyment of writing was accompanied by the skill of Tolstoy.
Although War and Peace is, I guess, a good summary of the post!

I don't respond to the likes of Soccerman ( I gave that up ages ago) because his posts are not worth the time, but he winds you up and you can't help yourself from responding to him.
I voted Alex Norris in the election before last and he is Labour and I didn't vote for anyone in the last one because I don't trust any of them, including Boris. In your eyes I suppose that makes me a member of the BNP.
I have also said I enjoy playing devils advocate in response to the so predictable and boring political bias this board is becoming.
The reaction on here is just a re run of the brexit debate where the left are the knowalls and scruffy idle commies and the right are the thick racist bigots with it seems no in between.
Sorry, I’m not sure I’m understanding. Your friends and family aren’t critical of her, but they are saying that some people are? So with 20 deaths IN TOTAL and no new cases today, what do those people think she should have done differently?
Or are you saying all governments receive criticism so therefore any criticism of Boris Johnson and his government, no matter how well informed and on the face of it unbiased, is rendered null and void?
Sorry it is you and Elite that keep mentioning Boris and his government I haven't. I said all governments will get criticism from certain quarters no matter who they are.
They have made mistakes which I have said in the past, should have acted sooner, they should never have allowed the Cheltenham festival to go ahead with a quarter of a million in attendance over 4 days, or allowing 3,000 Spanish football fans into the country when Spain was on partial lockdown to play Liverpool with 50,000 of their fans. That was criminal.
The day of reckoning will come if the government are to blame for everything you say they are and then Mr Starmer will have his day in the sunshine. But no matter what this government does the same suspects will criticise and it will be the same when Labour get in. So predictable.
The whole point I was originally making it that just because Johnson and his government have been criminally negligent it doesn’t automatically follow that that any consequences will follow. Have you seen how this crisis has been covered so far? That’s why I linked to articles from foreign media.
It was you who brought up Ardern and her government as a comparison because apparently unknown people have criticised her for unknown reasons. But yes. So predictable.
The trick is to decide whether the criticism has validity or is just based on political point scoring. It is quite possible that we will end up with the worst death toll in Europe, but if you dismiss that as simply point scoring you are even more biased than I thought.
Have you ever considered that the government have handled this crisis badly and the criticism is fully justified? Thought not.
