BT, A88 never said they had a lack of quality, which then you would be correct in saying Dyche is not to blame. I am sure A88 mentioned the style of play and of which Dyche is most definitely to blame for that. It's ok supporting some one, but I think you also have to be honest in the assessment.

If Everton would have played a lovely style of football and still lost, I would be the first to say, fair play BT you were correct (and sinkov) Dyche really can adopt a different style / framework.

To hide behind it's only the second game doesn't wash with me. You would still see a different style. It's just like watching Burnley if we are being honest, the old Burnley.

I can't see how Dyche had any other option to set up the way he did with what he had to select from. If Tarkowski's header had gone in and McNeil had a right foot the result would have been a whole lot different.

Yes the score may have been. It's the style of play though. Don't get me wrong he could win every game from now until 2056 but it won't be a free flowing style of football that you say he will produce.
I'm not at all doubting results. Just the style.

I thought Sean might keep them up with something to spare, but after watching that I'm not so sure. The return of DCL will help, but not much. The long ball didn't work, but Sean has the same problem that gradually overtook him at Burnley, you can't football much better footballing teams off the park, so you have to try something else., and if that doesn't work, you're fecked.

Having said that, if Tarko's header had gone in off the post instead of bouncing out, who knows how it might have turned out, and Davies should have buried that header near the end, so Everton were good for two goals at Anfield despite not playing well, but when you're bottom end you never get the breaks when you need them. C'est la vie.

The problem is as I said last month is he will revert back to his tried and trusty. His comfort zone. It is human nature. He may get results and they may have been unlucky not to draw or win games. He may get Everton into Europe.
My point is, he does it by playing crap football. He just does. Already after 2 games we are seeing excuses, Everton team is not good enough. Of course it is.

If VK would have been manager last night you would have seen a different style totally. They may have lost 4-0 but the style would be there for all to see.

Goo luck to Everton and the 'framework' its going to be so bad for them to watch.

It is not that BT. It is just being right and wrong. If he did play a better brand of football like you said he wouldI would be the first to say WOW. However having previously had the discussion with you and Sinkov I do feel the need to say, there you go lads.

This is the dilemma for Sean in a nutshell army, on the occasions when Everton tried to play football, they couldn't, Liverpool's players were simply too good for them, it was like taking candy off a kid, and as you say, the confidence drained out of them.

Swop the managers around, give Dyche Salah, Nunez and Gopka up front, give Klopp Simms and the rest of Everton's mediocre midfield and do you seriously think Everton under Klopp would have won by playing scintillating football, while Dyche's Liverpool simply lumped the ball up to their world class superstars ?

I've never said Dyche will keep Everton up by playing pretty football, nor have Everton given him the job of turning them into a good footballing team, his job is to keep them up. I don't know if you were too young to be watching Burnley when we won promotion UG, or have simply forgotten what you were seeing, but we played good football all season and were top scorers in the division. The 'quality' of the football deteriorated as the quality of the squad deteriorated. Now he has inherited one of the worst squads in the PL and you will get a repeat of what worked at Burnley. But the idea that he cannot play any other way is a nonsense, as he has proved before, give him better players and his teams will play better football as good as any. He is a pragmatic manager, he will adopt his tactics to the ability levels of his players compared to the opposition. It really is as simple as that.

I do see your point. I just have a totally different one. His go to football is awful. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Time will tell but it is already telling.

If VK was in charge last night, you would have seen a different style and set up. That is a fact. Just because they tried to string some passes together a few times doesn't mean the system/framework etc was set up to play that type of football. It just wasnt

But ok, let's draw a line under it again. The next time you see one of his teams play good, consistent style of football then bring this thread to the top and prove a point. I don't mean winning games, I mean a good style to watch that is not boring as.

I know now this thread will go to the abyss of the clarets mad forum and never again reach the surface.
