Yep, we hardly ever scored under Luke Williams.
Oops, I've just checked in with reality.

I agree it's silly to wish ill on LW, he was good for us, BUT I did catch myself thinking yesterday how much more of a well rounded team we are now. We look like we can score different types of goals, not just the tiki taka / unpick the defence kind. We score on the break, we put good crosses in, we shoot from distance, we swing corners in. Best of luck to LW (even though a 3-0 loss in a derby will not be easy to digest) but I like where we are now.
This. It’s been a difficult ride for Maynard, and a difficult ride to accept him as leader as well for fans, including me, but we’re at a point now where most fans should appreciate the way we play.
We still go for possession stats, but we’re multi dimensional now and that is a real bonus. We attack from different points of the pitch. We go long sometimes and it works!
We are a more rounded team that with Williams. I’ve always looked upon it as building blocks.
Ardley laid the foundation for Burchnall, who in turn gave Williams the platform. Now we’re seeing the “body of work” over a few seasons produce a more rounded team.
I’ll always be a fan who is rooted in a ‘more traditional style of play’ just because that’s what I’ve watched at the lane for 50 odd years now, but it doesn’t mean I can’t see a recipe for success now.
Whatever happens, fans will react emotionally when we’re in a loss of form and unfortunately Maynard will get the rough end of this more than most managers. Can’t change that overnight, but the fact he’s a year in and the team looks better set for a promotion push now has got to start getting him credit in the bank.
I remember going to a pre season open day and talking to John Newman . I said AD looks decent and Newman thought he would be Football League standard.
Great to see Lucien Mahovo get on the pitch for Norwich City. I was talking to a member of the coaching staff from Stags pre season and he was tipping LM to break through with Notts this season.
Prior to his move to Norwich of course.
SM has largely improved his tactical substitutions (other than the Posh cup tie?)
I think the majority of fans are very happy with Notts style of play currently , which is both entertaining and rewarding.
Certainly attack is the best form of defence rather than trying to hold on to a one goal lead.
Couldn't get to Accrington last Saturday and went to see Ilkeston v Morpeth Town finished 4-2 after 2-0, 2-2 scorelines.
In demand striker Tom Cursons scored twice , Connor Dixon (Kyle's cousin ) and a cunning lob from ex Notts Academy player Jamie Walker.
I spoke to Danny Rowe who was scouting for Fylde and Simon Weaver the Harrogate boss.
There were also scouts from Barnsley, Derby and Peterborough.
Latest article in The Derbyshire Times suggests Chesterfield are in Pole position to complete the deal.
