Just on the face masks 59, in my admittedly small research expeditions around Clitheroe, Preston and Lancaster, where I noted about 15% wearing face masks, although I didn't actually count them, I would say the majority of wearers were the younger generations, very few of the middle-aged to older end were wearing them, except for the few very really old codgers I saw, and I would say they were all wearing them, as well they might, it's a killer for them.

I think you're right on ignoring the lockdown and social distancing rules, mainly younger people thronging the beaches and attending city centre demos, raves etc, but I'm not convinced it's anything to do with free thinking or challenging authority, more likely they just don't see the point of these restrictions for them, anyone under 40 is far more likely to die in a road traffic accident than from Covid, so why shouldn't they get on with enjoying their lives while they're still young enough to. Good for them.

The BBC, ever helpful, has published a guide to help us wear our muzzles correctly. Read it and weep. They still can't help themselves though, they have to give you a little nudge in the direction they think we should travel. The guidance is to help us wearing face masks TO the shops, not just IN the shops. That is no co-incidence, that's just to prepare the sheeple for what's coming next, muzzled up all the time, inside or out.

Yeah there's a bunch of people that don't wear it properly, that in itself negates the purpose in wearing one, and is in large part why you've managed to find yourselves lots of evidence that contradicts wearing one helps.

Wear it properly (as the article describes) and don't let it become something its not. Its not some kind of political fight, its just to be unselfish and look after those around you.

You are making your life a lot harder than it has to be by making such small things into a big deal. Relax.

I wear glasses and the worst thing was them steaming up,but got it sorted now.i just fold a tissue up into four creases and put it just under the mask and problem solved.

A month ago the government was telling us they are virtually useless, now they are mandatory in shops. The official scientific advice is still that they offer no protection to the wearer, and have very little chance of stopping the wearer passing it on if he's infected. So if the figure of just one in 4,000 carrying the virus is correct, it's pointless 3,999 wearing one, because they offer no protection and they can't pass on what they haven't got. A mask may be useful to prevent the 1 person in 4,000 with the virus passing it on, but probably not.

So just tell me again Anti, who it is making a meal out of nothing ?

With due respect mate, you are. You are turning wearing a mask into some anti government agenda. If you search and read what you want to hear online you'll find stuff that reads exactly as you want it, just the same if you buy a newspaper that shares the same views. I've read the articles linked in the thread, but there's also plenty of research pointing it does help too. I conclude the difference is how people are wearing them, rather than whether they wear them or not.

I just accept it for what it is and just wear a mask. Everyone else is doing it, not just in the UK but throughout the world. In Asian countries like Japan they do it even pre-pandemic...and they have greater experience at dealing with pandemics than us.

I just don't get why its a big deal. Its not hard to wear one and it doesn't mean a violation of your rights. Think how horrible you would feel if you found out you were a carrier and passed it on to someone because you didn't wear a mask. Even if the chances are small, I'd take wearing one with a smaller chance of passing it on than none at all. I'll leave the decision of wearing a mask down to experts and government officials because I trust their opinion far more than mine.

Anti - those in the science of it (and the government) have repeatedly informed us that the use of facemasks isn't an effective barrier against a viral infection....therefore, there wearing offers no benefit to the wearer....they may as well have asked folk to wear ear muffs - so for those that dont wear them, they're of/in no more or less harm than those that do - add to that, that the Government hasn't offered any technical reason for this decision to either Parliament or the people - no debate and no scrutiny....just coercion. Seems they can just make it up - Meaning, if folk tolerate this behaviour, then what are they going along with ?.....thats the danger, masks being a show deference to what amounts to a dictatorship, what next ?

If you think about how these decisions are made then you will know that its not just one person. There's a collective of different opinions and its not impossible for changes to be made. Its happened the same in other countries too..it happened with the herd immunity malarkey.

I just don't get what the big deal is. We aren't getting told to report people because of their race or religion and its not part of a bigger plan for control. We don't have a dictatorship and our system isn't anywhere near as corrupt as countries that do. This is the 20's in the UK, not the 30s in Germany.

I think its just not a big deal wearing one, and I don't see it like that at all.

But anyway, I'm happy to agree to disagree. This is just my own opinion and I respect your own and others. I personally trust what is being said about masks and feel it should have been bought in earlier. I disagree that there's no reason to wear one, and would disagree if that was still the case.

I do not trust the "science".
I do not trust this government.
I will not wear a mask.

I will be wearing one,but people will make their own choices. Anyway,who is going to police the supermarkets and shops etc.. I can see there being quite a few problems with numpties refusing to wear them in stores and shops and then kicking off when told to wear one..
