Jim McLean

RIP Jim.

I remember meeting him as a boy outside Tannadice when my old man was buying tickets for a Scottish Cup game circa 1986. He took the time to come and speak to me and my wee brother and went and got us team photographs which he signed. He made a big impression on us that day.

One of the greatest managers of all time.

That list has actually saddened me somewhat (in terms of achievements - I’m already saddened by the thread in terms of his passing!!)

Both Wee Jum and his players were so much better than that list! That list is pretty phenomenal but Jim and the players deserved many more of them Semi and finals to read ‘winners’

We should really have had double digit winners medals in the 80s alone!

Edited to say this isn’t a criticism of Jim or anyone else just a sad observation :(

Its post's like the above that i truly appreciate on this board along with Peter's and the Rangers fans thought's too.A true legend of Scottish football who will never be forgotten.

I always remember the interviews on McLean given by Brian Clough,total respect from the best manager England never had,FACT.

Agree, but... that list is unbelievable when you read it. So consistent, so far in competitions. So good...

Fav comment so far for me is from Gough, "so who do you think I should sign for Jim?"

It was poignant that I received a Christmas present of Steve Finan's book, - Jim McLean, Dundee United legend; I look forward to reading it.
