Cameron to be reinvented into a ball winning holding midfielder and two new CBS added.
Our retained list has been confirmed following the conclusion of our 2021-22 campaign.
Four**** players remain under contract heading into the new season, while four have been offered the chance to extend their stay at Meadow Lane.

“As our supporters would expect, preparations for 2022-23 commenced long ago. We have identified the areas we need to improve and are in a strong position to act swiftly.”

Overall I think this is probably wise. A bit sad to see Lacey, Dion and Tyreace all released but not shocked by any of them.
Delighted to see Sam is staying when a lot of us assumed he was out of contract. Guessing we had an extension clause in his contract?
Suprised by Lacey and we've still got a few under contract who could do with improving next season. Looking forward to seeing who we get in, the statement states they've identified the areas they need to improve so we shall see.
Thank Lacey for his service and slightly surprising, but it makes sense.
He's sometimes described as 'a Rolls Royce of a defender' but the NL is definitely off-road terrain.
One aspect of his game which is really poor IMO is defending of his goal with desperate tackles and blocks...he doesn't do it.
Another is leadership, he was our main man back there at Halifax when that disaster happened.
Good luck to him, he's bound to get another decent club, maybe a squad role in the FL
Looking at that retained list doesn’t fill me with hope for next season. If we’re not careful we could end up with a bloated squad again.
I know they’re under contract but I wish we could have got rid of another 4-5 of them.
Someone tweeted ' Whats the point having a Youth Academy if we don't give these players a chance?'
Exactly. There is something seriously wrong at this club when we release players with the potential of Tyreece Palmer.
We farmed him out on loan twice and he scored goals where ever he was albeit at a lower level. He never had a chance.
When he did he scored at H&W in the Trophy.
This club never ****ing changes it really doesn't.
...wish they would 'release' Burchnall NOW. I can't stand another season with this clown.
From the retained list, I would say there are probably only five who I would definitely want to keep, being.
Slocombe
Cameron
Roberts
Palmer
Rodrigues
Happy enough with JOB and Rawlinson as older squad fill in players.
The other seven have question marks, but are all of an age where improvement is possible/likely.
Kairo Mitchell having thr biggest question mark.
I would hope all four of the players offered new contracts did re-sign for us.
This would leave us with maybe another seven players to sign, if we got these right I would be confident of a successful season.
Offering JOB a two-year contract last summer seems a little rash now, given how little he’s featured this season and is not getting any younger.
Surprised yet not surprised by Lacey’s departure. Never quite recaptured the consistency from his first season, and we need a beast of a centre half who is both powerful yet mobile. That wasn’t Alex.
I’m sure it’s unconnected, but it always struck me as odd that IB always seemed to refer to him as “Lacey” - no nickname, no first name, just Lacey.
