I think a problem we have as Notts fans is a tendency to go straight for the nuclear option - demands to sack the manager, sack the CEO, sack the tea lady/person, etc - even though that approach rarely works. Sacking the manager should be the last option, not the first one.Quote:

It’s amazing how many people just down tools and result to insulting fans, the players, the manager and owners because the season isn’t panning out how they wanted. I’ve got gripes with a couple of the players but on the whole most people at the club are trying to pull it in the right direction.
SM needs more time, there have been good performances, most notably away and as for the talk about the owners screwed up with Warnock, have they actually realised he’s not won a game in the league with Aberdeen yet?
We’ve had a great 18 months, it’s a bad period, we’re not use to loosing the last few years.
The owners won’t panic and will learn from this, I am certain of this.
These Pro footballers must respect us less, we were there all the NL years, the fact is fans have got restless with the teams defensive frailties and some players haven’t got the minerals to get through that pressure unfortunately.Quote:

In any position in the real world the standard is 90 days / 3 months to see if someone can handle themselves in a position. For football managers / head coaches I try to reserve judgement until at least ten games in.
I absolutely agree that so far SM is not working out. But in the owners' position I would certainly be giving him more time just as a matter of basic sanity.
There are obviously deep problems with our defence. Our last game we scored three goals and had 66% possession or so. If we hadn't also managed to concede four goals, that would have been a roaring success and we'd all be praising the new guy. I am absolutely one hundred percent behind the idea that we need to strengthen our defence at the next window and sincerely hope we do so.
I have to admit I found it a bit wacky we brought in yet another attacking player when our defence has been our entire problem all season. So I assume Jatta is a fantastic prospect. Cos otherwise that makes absolutely no sense. Hopefully he's another Reuben-level player for us in the fullness of time :)
In the mean time, hopefully SM can turn the ship around at least somewhat in the coming games. Maybe he needs to stick with four at the back. Let's see what he does and try to get behind him and our ailing defence. I think it's telling that we seem weaker at home than we are away: perhaps thousands of fans screaming at you and booing every time you make a mistake isn't the best thing for confidence or something.
Nailed it. Sacking a manager after six weeks would be crazy. All sane neutrals and football pundits would call us out for not giving him more time. The narrative would be "Notts return to their old ways of hiring and firing." We'd look like a complete joke.Quote:

Whatever. Barring a miraculous turnaround (in which case we will all think SM is a genius) the season has gone.
Come the end of April if performances and results haven’t improved considerably then SM will be gone along with our head of recruitment.
