That said, the brothers have made clear that they make judgements as much on a decent sample size of performances rather than just results, indeed they demonstrated that when they pulled the trigger on Neal Ardley.
I would say that if the brothers have been making an assessment based on performances since Christmas, they will have been largely unimpressed, and increasingly concerned over February and March. Not to put too fine a point on it, we've been shocking, and attendances have begun to decline.
They will probably still show their trademark patience before making a decision, because they aren't the type to panic or sack a manager unless they already have a replacement in mind, but it wouldn't surprise me if we're nearer to a pivotal moment than some might assume. If current performance levels and results continue over the next couple of weeks, which could mean falling out of the play-off zone, then Maynard might be on borrowed time.
