Time will tell but any truth in the story doing the rounds that Mr Naysmith is on the lookout for another goalie ?
Martin has been far from convincing so would not be surprised.
Yet another example of Naysmith's many failings.
None of his signings - with the exception of Fordyce - have significantly improved the team and he has shown he has little confidence in them.
Rooney and Mercer only get in the team when there are injuries, he identified Stirling then punted him and took a chance on McFadden which was a complete mistake.
Having said that, I think both Rooney and Mercer are showing signs of improvement.
I do not understand why he does not play Rooney as right midfield or wing -back, whatever it is called nowadays. Well actually I do because the Manager does not like to play with players roving forward wide and either crossing or getting into the box themselves.
It's certainly the type of football I like to see but have been sadly starved of since Naysmith came in.
People are currently concerned with our financial situation, well this Manager has not used his budget wisely and has not got value for money.
I note that Martin is contracted for another season. Why on earth was that done ?
There have been far superior players than him in recent years who had to make do with 1 year deals from season to season - unbelievable !
Will this be another contract the Club has to 'pay up' due to Naysmith's failings ?
If he wasn't going to keep Robinson then he should have kept Atkinson either as no.1 or as competition.
He would not have been any worse than Martin but Naysmith decided he was having a clear-out which has cost the Club money and not significantly improved us.
His incompetence is being masked by the fact that if it wasn't for Dobbie we would be heading for the relegation play-offs.
The only contracts worth paying up would be Naysmith and Anderson's to get rid but given the money they have wasted already that may not be possible.
Surely they will be on 'rolling contracts' of no more than one year - anything else would be a huge mistake.
Is Cammy Bell not back at Killie?
Robinson was also on a 2 years deal and Atkinson isn't even getting a game for Annan.
Could it be that Martins' current injury is more serious than previously thought, rather than the fact that he is mince?
Martin hasnt been that bad his shot stopping is more than decent he has saved us in a few games this season his onlt downside is coming for crisses but he hasnt really made any callamatous errors that have cost us certainly nowhere near the errors robinson has made in his time with us
Atkinson has been found out he was ok as a stop gap but as a 1st choice he just isnt good enough for annan so why would he be good enough for us
As for martin having a deal till next season naismith seems to try and sign players on longer contacts which is a good thing as weve seen in the past we cant ever seem to keep our better player as we dont have them on the contracts needed and they just leave at the 1st available contract
Naismiths biggest issue is his persistance to play dykes and reluctance to play lyle
Bell has only recently joined Hibs where he probably knew he wouldn't be 1st choice straight away. Jamie Mcdonald was also established 1st choice when Bell joined Killie and has kept his starting position. The point is, he probably accepted he was going to be 2nd choice when he signed for those clubs so shouldn't be disenchanted or looking to go out on loan 'cos he' s not starting games. Considering Neil Lennon has been a bit critical of Marciano at times, Bells best chance of taking over as first choice is probably at Hibs.
Prematch preview sounds as if Martin could be fit for today
