I know that this is a boring hobby-horse of mine, but I would still love to know what it is in his character or attitude that has led to him having been given so few opportunities.
At Forest this year, he was in the squad for 53 competitive matches. For the vast majority of those, he was on the bench or appeared for less than ten minutes. There were only six games where he played for more than an hour. Yet he scored nine goals. That is an excellent strike-rate, so there must be something else that has made various managers regard him as only a fringe-player. Yes, he is light-weight, but so is Rhodes, and he is actually a yard quicker than the latter. Perhaps he does not contribute enough outside the box, but we have often criticised Rhodes for the same thing. It will always be a bit of a mystery to me.
