Am I just being a miserable git?
Today’s game. I was bored sh1tless after 18 minutes until the final whistle. I thought we were poor. 2 nil up and just decided to shut the door and that was that. Dunn and King sort of livened things up for the last 15, but overall, Charlton didn't turn up today and were there to be hammered. 4 or 5 minimum would have been more like it, but 6 or 7 was easily possible. It seriously worried me just how little desire to keep at them there was.
But, 3 points, a clean sheet, no injuries or cards, I should be happy about it shouldn't I?
re: Am I just being a miserable git?
i`m happy with a win and a clean sheet, as i expected to get turned over again..
edit- by the way, lowe got injured. probably considered a boost to some cynical knobheads that though eh..?
re: Am I just being a miserable git?
100% agree Dan . A good 18 minutes of high tempo pressing football and then nowt . Charlton were absolute shoite , worst team yet down Ewood .
Lowe was MoM up to getting injured .
re: Am I just being a miserable git?
Dan - it's the issue we've discussed before: is winning everything, or do performances matter?
I think most of us actually ENJOY and PREFER good football, but when you are committed to a particular team, the result tends to come first. It's related to that other discussion: is there any point in us getting to the PL? Probably not, in terms of enjoyment, but it's hard to resist the urge!
(Still, I keep reassuring myself with the thought that I could be a Wigan or Blackpool supporter).
Incidentally, how many people predicted Bournemouth and Brentford to be in the top three at Christmas?
Back to Rovers - I would still like to see David Dunn starting. He would probably need to be replaced after an hour, but a calm head and a touch of class are very important in the opening phase of a game.

Bowyer said it was nowt on Radio Lancs after the game. I agree with Needle that until he went off he was MOTM. It guessed it was precautionary, the second he went down I saw Williamson stand up and change his top, no assessment, just off.
And yes Aucks, it has been done before and you're right. Watching good football is what a good afternoon is all about. That was lacklustre. Goal difference is our weakspot and today there was a good chance to try and help on that front, but the players decided not too. Needle is 100% when he says that Charlton were the worst team yet down at Ewood. They were bloody awful.

All the same, Charlton are in 12th place and only four points behind us. They will probably go and beat Cardiff on Boxing Day. It's just indicative of what this l
re: Am I just being a miserable git?
Football is a results business if we played crap for the rest of the season but won every game I can't see there would be many complaints
Admittedly when I pay to watch a game I do want to be entertained by my team however I do feel our lacklustre performances are down to being inconsistent
Win 5 or 6 on the spin the free flowing stuff comes with it I just cannot see us doing this though.
Also as annoying as the shut up shop mentality was I can fully understand why bowyer opted for the safety first back to back defeats we needed 3 points and the clean sheet can only help with the fragile confidence at the back.
re: Am I just being a miserable git?
The best games I've ever seen live, require both teams turning up and having a go at one another. If one turns up and sits back, and has an off day, it's hard for the other side to keep up a high tempo for 90 mins. We beat them easily and conserved the maximum amount of effort for the next 10 days worth of games. 2 early goals and at no point did they come out and try attack us. So we sat on what we had. It didn't sound very exciting, but those 3 points are welcome after 2 defeats. The crucial part is we are back on track.
re: Am I just being a miserable git?
As regards to the topic of the O/P
You really need to ask Dan ? :s
XD XD XD XD XD XD
Only joking pal ;)
re: Am I just being a miserable git?
I just think it was a combination of things ...the Saturday before Christmas is always a poorly attended game ..10000 at most ??..no away following ..drab atmosphere..two very ordinary sides and we got a rather flat non event of a game.
Obviously the big plus was the win and a clean sheet. Keeps us in the hunt but going to need to step up a couple of gears with Bolton and Boro looming.Good to see Rhodes back to scoring and Lowe did impress so hats off to him.
Looking at all those sides above us not one really stands out as having star quality players.A lot of very similiar sides quality wise with managers getting the best out of them with motivation and tactics. If GB steps upto the plate maybe we could be one of those top six sides come the end of the season because player for player we re as good as anyone on paper ..
