Turn his back on the national anthem.
At least he's consistent! The thing is...you've got to be a really good player to do that in England for the fans to overlook such disrespect and I really don't think he is.
He plays in the EPL ffs, whats that old saying "don't bite the hand that feeds you"
Shame on him.Quote:

As you say, there is previous with this guy. Despite being born in Derry, Northern Ireland, he opted to play for ROI instead. This of course plays straight into the hands of loyalist bigots, and undermines efforts to make N.I. a fairer and more inclusive society.

Absolutely right. If he wasn't prepared to honour the anthem of the country he is playing in, then he shouldn't have come here in the first place. I don't recall any of this nonsense from English players playing overseas.
Ironically, GSTQ is also the national anthem of Northern Ireland, the country where he was born, and for whom he spurned the invitation to play.Quote:

They only play GSTQ before international matches in the UK, correct? I'm assuming this picture is from their American tour.
We play the national anthems before every single game, in every single sport. Personally, I try not to take part in nationalist expressions or events. But when they're played at games, I usually take off my hat and stand up just because it's not worth the trouble of having a conversation with strangers on why I don't do it and being yelled at and called an asshole and "unpatriotic" and yada yada yada. I recite other creeds or sayings that are meaningful to me in my head. But if McClean doesn't mind the trouble of doing it openly, more power to him. He's probably not trying to be subtle. I don't do the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag either. I pay my taxes and abide by the laws of the country and area I live in. I don't think anything more is required of citizens. He's not preventing anyone else from expressing themselves, so I don't see a problem.

Good words on the baggies board Tean. You are correct and you should know most out of all of us.
I'll reply to you on here as you tend to get a more mature outlook and response than you do over there, the response to my valid question shows that.
I'll ask a question on this board.
Is McClean turning his back or is his head
