A question r.e. midfield..
Due to the bullying of Jason Lowe, I want to throw a question out there..
Who believes that a team can play in this division with 2 'cairney type' midfielders centrally? I genuinely believe that's what these moaners are calling for..
Some of these, esp on brfcc forum, have been attending games for anything up to 30 or 40 years! How can it be they have so little knowledge of the game!!??
re: A question r.e. midfield..
No - you definitely need the holding player. My grumble about Lowe is that he rarely looks for an attacking pass when he has won the ball, so it is hard to launch quick counter-attacks.
To be fair, his task would be easier if we had another central midfielder who was commanding and confident - someone who would give JL an immediate outlet.
Could Akpan be the man?
re: A question r.e. midfield..
In simple terms yes
akpan is looking so far like a good signing for Lowe he would be an ideal partner if and its a big IF he passed to him or Conway however he is all to prone to passing back to the keeper which means momentum is lost.
re: A question r.e. midfield..
As I see it, Lowe's job is to retain possession, be it sideways to the wide players, back to the centre halves or even yes, back to the keeper. He is not in the team to attempt killer passes(which as with cairney, 50% of the time lost the team the ball)..
re: A question r.e. midfield..
Yes you do need to keep the ball in midfield but in a way that doesnt invite pressure from the opposition. We aint Barcalona when it comes to keeping possesion. The trouble with Lowe is that a lot of his short passes back /sideways actually puts the player/team under pressure. Thats the difference. And when the field does open up in front of him, instead of making that 10-15 yard forward surge carrying the ball to commit a player and pull their shape open a little he doesnt. He hesitates ..has no confidence in doing that ..and thats usually when the crowd groan at him because they can see the space in front of him .
I wouldnt call it bullying at all just frustration from the crowd. Hes played many games for Rovers and this isnt something new with the lad.He really does seem to me a player who really isnt comfortable with the ball in his possesion.Confidence is a real issue.A player like that who lacks the ability with the ball has to give more in winning the ball back from the oppositio
re: A question r.e. midfield..
Yes we dont want the crowd to make Jason Lowe another Keith Andrews(or further back)another |Mark Atkins.Of course, both of those midfielders could score if not do much else!!!:D
re: A question r.e. midfield..
Couldnt have put it better Howie.....great post.
re: A question r.e. midfield..
Another hypophetical question.. Which side playing 442 would get the best results.. A team with 2 cairneys centrally, or a team with 2 Lowe's..?
re: A question r.e. midfield..
Wish bowyer would do a question and answer night with the fans where he can explain what he feels j Lowe brings to the team..
re: A question r.e. midfield..
Lets answer the question . No I wouldn`t want two Cairneys in central midfield , in fact I wouldn`t have Cairney in central midfiled full stop , he proved not to be good enough . Something you were right about .
