Yes at long last!
Never looked like he had any idea, what took them so long?
If true, and it seems quite possibly maybe, I can't wait to see what wild and whacky appointment those chicken folk will plump for. My money's on Saxo, (if available). You heard it here 1st ;D
I see the LET says it is definitely untrue.
Even the Brighton fans are admitting it was a lucky win. That was our first away defeat in 11 games, but it is the home form which is the real issue.
It is beginning to look as if the Bolton game might be - in that overused phrase - a "must win" for GB. If we lose that, I suspect his position will be untenable.
About tine too.. Aucks will be despondent..;D
Its a strange one, the timing that is i.e. it doesn't make sense. But then again have any of Venkys decisions made much sense.
Its only four games in, narrowly beaten away by a leading contender, been allowed to splash out (within FFP reason) upon quite a few players right up to within 24 hrs etc. etc.
My instinct tells me this is speculation that our next vs Bolton is GB's Waterloo. Lose that, and its farewell to GB.
I am sure that the majority will greet it with a little sadness, but also some relief in that some sort of change is needed.
Will it be for the best, or the worst? Who can say (maybe JR12 as he holds ALL the answers?) maybe Venkys should call him.
I personally would be giving it four or so more games, as we have yet to see what his new signings could bring. I don't feel one game at Brighton is a fair test in isolation.
Is it knee jerk: - not Venkys style. Fan pressure: - they don't acknowledge fan 'opinion'. Bottom 3 position and trapdoor for GB: - at four
Alf and Despair - I wouldn't be "despondent" if GB was sacked. I have acknowledged loads of times that, in terms of the way the football-business operates, he is lucky to have lasted this long.
What I have always argued, though, is that the onslaught of contempt he has received in places has been laughable and moronic.
No doubt, Grant Hanley's deflection yesterday was the result of Bowyer being "too pally" with him. Also, the missed easy chances were, without question, the result of playing Marshall out of position.
I can accept the argument for Bowyer to go. I just wish I didn't have to put up with some of the utter garbage spewed out by those who think there are easy answers. I recently made a couple of contributions to the LET site, but I have given up because some people have such entrenched views that ANY question or statement that tries to be rational is dismissed as "happy clapping".
You would honestly think that some of the idiots spend time in the Rovers dressing-room or
Only 4 games in as you say,but results are awful. Weve no clean sheets in five(League Cup added)and counting
I guess Venkys dont fancy another relegation, and that really is a nightmare scenario. Gary Bowyer could claim to be very unlucky, but the suspicion is that he doesnt play to be lucky.. does anyone else think Hanley & Duffy is our best centre-back combination :? :? .I mean for all the large number of signings made in the transfer window(albeit within FFP constraints)not a single defender signed, which was our achilles heal last season.....
With so many teams being so closely matched and results dependant on very fine margins this inability to stop conceding goals, is getting more serious game by game.......Venkys cant really afford to wait until the position is too difficult for anyone else to take the job........its their money and their investment as much as its our club........
But I can't see how a deflection and a hand-ball goal can be anything to do with the manager.
I accept there is a sound argument for him to go on the general pattern, but people keep blaming him for individual incidents that are part-and-parcel of a game of football.
I honestly feel he should of been axed last season
we should of made the top 6 with the squad we had
gestede and Rhodes notched up 40+ goals between them and we ended up worse than the season before he just did not learn by his mistakes he stood by Hanley as captain and his massively flawed partnership with Duffy which cost us quite a few points
I am a little baffled by media speculation of his sacking so soon into the season especially as this was deemed as the tricky season no money to spend gestede gone and low expectations
I feel a sacking is too soon however I have started to feel I cannot see where our next win will come from and when that happens maybe his time is up.
