We're very unlikely to go down. This is a transitional period and it's going to take time, (and that goes right through the summer); to see if something can be achieved. Right now it's about building up resilience. Had it not been for Steel's howler last night, 3 points may have been possible. There's a strong backroom staff in now, only time will tell on what they can produce. But to make the cake, quite a few eggs are going to need to be broken. It's clear as hell now that Boywer played to the strengths of what he had and basically set out to try and outscore the opposition. Lambert is looking for more from these players and there are quite a few that are struggling to adjust. He's going to have to spend in the summer. A creative(ish) central midfield player is *****. A left winger with a left foot would be helpful, a striker or 2 and more time for Tommy Spurr, (who I've always liked, despite his deficiencies). Watching the rest of this season will be the ultimate in untertainment th
Fact is,this is very much Gary Bowyers team NOT Paul Lamberts. So if the players arent good enough, the club were right to sack GB. After all,he had far longer to put things right than most managers get in this division.......whilst acknowledging that in a financial embargo he had to work within constraints. Its also well worth remembering that even with the best two strikers together since Andy Cole & Matt Jansen i.e.Jordan Rhodes & Rudy Gestede he couldnt get us anywhere near 6th position! Thats not even considering Josh King who seems to be a regular first-teamer at Premier League Bournemouth.
So Venkys made the right call on GB. Far too early to tell how Paul Lambert will progress.
Its a weird one for me. When Bowyer got rounded on and called all sorts, it was the general feeling we would sack him to go chase the dream of promotion? The sooner the better ...or more crucially ...get up this season. In reality we have a more expensive manager and are visibly going backwards. We treaded water under GB, but didnt decline at an alarming rate like now. I am aware we need new players. But we dont have the money to buy what Lambert requires. We simply dont have the players to play hoofball (which is all we now play) and he's found a way of making sure Rhodes will not score goals.
I said it last week I feel Steele is a weak link. He isnt the problem, but he isnt going to get us up. I was told otherwise by everyone. But I'll stick with that notion. And I dont think we are safe. More that there are simply 4 worse teams (possibly) but is that where are as a club? Did we really need to sack a manager that now most appear to aknowledge was doing a decent job? Bowyer was un

We d become stale under GB and we needed a change. Whether it works under Lambert who knows but something had to change.
so your happy with this H but knew 100% Bowyer was a wrong'un?
I'm struggling to recall the last time we won.
I'm just staggered that your fully behind all this having been so vocal previously. We are sinking into a relegation fight. Talk it up all you like, the results (and this is a results business as you kept saying under Bowyer) are poor, the performnaces are dire at best.
Ive not said anything to the contrary Champs ..results are poor so how can i be happy but in the long scheme of things .. its nothing new.Three years of negative football so another half a season aint going to change much.
Lambert like GB should be given time hence im 100% behind him just as i was with GB ..but if he doesnt come upto scratch ..il be vocal again !
We needed a change pal sometimes they work sometimes they dont ..thats football.
EDIT The football is dire i agree Champs ..but results wise hes on a par if not better than GB at the mo ?
GB 3 wins in 17 ..16 pts..PL 3 wins in 9..12pts. Could it be argued that PL is actually saving us from relegation ? ;D
Right champs,on the Gestede comment, yes GB found him,"discovered him" even, but he did bring c.46 players in,so hed have been a bit unlucky if 1 or 2 werent reasonable. Fair comment GB also brought in,Cairney,Marshall,Conway,& Evans..maybe none as valuable as Gestede but possibly better than others within his constraints.......
Id say he was given a generous amount of time to try to set up his own team(financial embargo at the end notwithstanding)..............if you are concerned with the current dire performances under PL,these are Gary Bowyers players fair & square, Bennett excepted.
I think you are being a bit hasty, and Im reserving judgement just like Howie till we see what PLs team looks like.
I do however, take fully on board your comments about Paul Lambert, and his back-up team being more expensive. i just think this might give us a better chance, thats all........as you say its to be hoped his "better contacts"bear fruit. Finally I would say PLs zero entertainment"make ever
we did become stale. I too saw that. I thought it all became a bit chummy with GB. No gaffer, all nicknames. Thtas not for me.
The game that jumped to my attention was Bolton, having seen Lamberts team's before I was shocked. The players where poor, that I can live with. But they didnt appear to care. Not a tiny bit. I saw that and forsaw the problems we have now. If these players dont buy into Lambert, we will start to sink. I've never seen Rhodes look so poor and toothless. And thats just one example. I could use another 10 examples easily.
This requires a huge overhaul to change pretty much all of the players (midfield including the pathetic Conway and Marshall) and all our attacking players. If we had the money to do this, fine. We simply dont.
And my biggest fear was seeing those players not care at all after that joke of a performance away at Bolton. Thye best us that day because they where more up for it. That worries me.
