Paul Douglas - 'Mistakes have been made'

So our CEO finally comes clean and admits the gaffes that may have cost us staying in the Championship...

'Nothing that has happended has been deliberate..nothing that has happened has been down to negligence'....really?

'It's down to a few bad decisions in a very unforgiving division'.......who made these FEW bad decisions?

'If we're too late to do it this season..we'll make sure next season is a good one' ......sounds to me like they've finally chalked this season off...

'We need people to keep coming along and keep backing us to put things right'......yeh the faithful can pay with their hard earned cash to see a defective product not fit for the purpose yet the club still ask for more...

To see an inept balance of a team attempt fight the opposition with not enough skill to cope....our fitness coach being put in the position he must hate but acts it out as part of his pledge to his Chairman and to top it all we have another promise of three late bids at the 11th hour dangled in front of us...how much more of this crap does the paying fan have to endure?

Please...no smart arse answers saying 'Don't go then'....I pay my money I'll say my piece...

Mistakes on a big scale have been made....question is who carries the most blame for this utter shambles this season?

It's about time those in charge organised an end of season forum so they can explain what went wrong and the 'paying' fan for who without this club wouldn't survive...get to ask those awkward questions no one dares ask and obtain a truthful reply for once....

Said it Brin, it's seems Tony Stewart has hibernated for the winter, no response to fans says it all.

Agree with you Brin. PD pressurised into making some sort of statement on behalf of the club. TS still absent without leave. Time to be transparent, honest and to cut the crap we have been delivered for far too long now. It is evident to any Millers fan that huge mistakes have been made. Let's be open and let the club tell us what mistakes have been made. Evans and the revolving door policy, Redfearn and the Youth policy, Warnock - why didn't we keep him and why did it take so long for him to say no, leaving the club with no time to recruit, Stubbs and his hopeless policy, Blackstock saga, Jackett departure and the real reason cheaper that cheap Warney has been landed with the manager's role. Add to that the diabolical training facilities, Head of Recruitment fiasco, G&C non event and perhaps even an explanation of the link between TS's company and the ownership of the ground/stadium/ Council's involvement. If we get honest answers to these questions and more the fans might just buy into it. Another series of untruths and the club will be in trouble as far as revenues from season tickets etc are concerned.

The major problem from our point of view is that Rotherham United Football Club is a Private Limited Company. Shares aren't traded on the Stock Exchange, the number of shareholders is limited, there is no Annual General Meeting, minutes of Board meetings are never made public... Therefore there's no accountability to us, the paying public. I doubt whether TS is even accountable to the Board in practice, given its membership, so in reality it's tantamount to a dictatorship. The man who holds the purse strings makes the decisions and is answerable to nobody.

No it isnt. The company is governed by the 2006 companys act and has to comply with its responsibilities accordingly.

What we are talking about is the supporters who are effectively stakeholders in perpetuity and therefore we should be treated much than we currently are. We knew we have a mountain to climb every season, and our survival is hinges on us being able to achieve the maximum results from all aspects of the club. The opposite has occurred and we do not have the resources to be able to extricate ourselves out of the position we find ourselves in.

We have a chance next year if we plan carefully now for next season...IF we are stubborn and think we can survive and try to spend our way out now, I personally think we will be in a much worse position hext year.

The problems with "writing off" this season and only planning for next season are numerous but as regards recruitment, what players will be retained and recruited in the summer (or hopefully, even offloaded this weekend!!).
Will the recruits be players that are just good enough to get us promoted then, if we go up, we have to start recruiting again, with wholesale changes.......a bit like the past few seasons!!
Or do we recruit players that will be good enough to get us promoted and develop into championship players...hopefully?
Or do we try to get latter type of players on board now, with the off chance we may stay up but, if we go down, we have a better chance of bouncing straight back up???
Obviously its not just transfer fees but wages that need to be taken into consideration. This is why I think looking at the lower leagues is probably the least risky option and try to avoid the Dexter Blackstock scenario. I know Stubbs was in charge when he was recruited but whoever sanctioned a three year deal for an 'over the hill', semi fit, semi skilled, none goal scoring forward with no pace should be sacked.

Why do you want a full post mortem we all know what mistakes have been made.We were allways going to struggle in this financially imbalanced league.we must not give up the fight rectify the errors.We have a courageous chairman who is prepared to invest money which he might never recover and he needs our support good or bad times.
