Good write up Paul
Correct TS you do know what's going off inside (well I would hope you did) and we don't because you don't talk to us
I don't want to know in and outs of cats arse but just letting fans know what going off maybe with a monthly newsletter on the official site might get fans more understanding but it's what action we see on the pitch that counts and without a " proper" manager in then ....
So a new recruit - a new employee - a new relationship....( AS )....was given the keys to the safe and with checkbook in hand spent all the "adiquate budget" Rotherham United had for........
"championship" players and bought "budget" players......
without saying:
"Hey boss this is what I'm doing and it will cost - this - that ant tuther"
And all this while TS & PD were playing scrabble.
Buying players - within budget - offering "Value for money" was done by a team that knew the game back to front and inside out..including Andy Holden - who served Everton for 19 years and John Doolan who was Wigan youth development coach - not forgetting Stubbs - a legend at Everton and a respected coach.....
Chelsea trusted him with Izzy and when Stubbs went - so did Izzy - to Huddersfield - and isn't he playing well!
And AS are now our best players - Adeyemi - Vaulks - Taylor - Forde - Fisher - Ball and not forgetting Issy !
Under Stubbs Ward scored 1 / 2 games and since Stubbs Ward has scored 1 / 6 so what does that say.
NW left our squad in bits during his cull of our players then ( eventually ) buggered off. Leaving us behind in our ***** planning of this season.
But never a word against NW - he's a firkin hero.
The players that NW left us was the defencive players ( that AS inherited ) ultimately let all the goals in - early season....Stubbs mixed and matched them in order to rectify their faults but didn't have time - he even dropped Halford and Wood after the Villa debacle but they had to play again due to injury.
Wood is playing better now but not commanding a solid defence and let's face it - he has to get something right.
Just can't buy this witch-hunt against AS when others are obviously culpable.
The point is - with all the rest ain't places upon him AS did a bloody good job - and was getting somewhere with better performances match on match.
AS was working systematically - assessing the squad and systems they could play within a 3 year project - only to have the plug pulled before he could develop a "team" - based on young talent - that he was brought in to do.
Don't buy it - he's been made a scapegoat and that's unfair.
I think that must be the thousandth time you've posted this stuff and you're still the only one that believes it.
It is factual and can be demonstrated as such.....
Everything else I've seen - read and heard is headlines without factual backing !
I could agree with you - it's so easy to see headlines and believe all the rubbish said about AS......
But that would make us both of wrong...wouldn't it !
It's a smear campaign to cover other frailties within the club........
The thing that makes me angry is:
Stubbs came and did the job he was contracted to do.
He inherited a small squad - culled by NW
The existing players included the defenders that let us down
AS - if left alone to would have moulded the squad into a team and we would be fine now !
KJ reaction said it all
AS was our best chance this season and he was let down by TS.
Tony Stewart has told the star Alan Stubbs made poor signings, get this into your head IBJ, its come from the horses mouth, the man who laid the money on the table.
Time to lay Alan Stubbs where it belongs, in the past.
lbj, it's interesting that you say that Stubbs' signings are our best players and I realise that this sort of stuff is all about opinion so I'll add mine.
Ball is not with us at the moment so unless you've been watching him while he's out on loan I don't see how you can realistically comment on his form.
Brown has gone, he's owned by Chelsea so how can he be one of our better players?
Fisher is like a rabbit caught in the headlights when a winger runs at him. He is slightly better than Kelly but that's not saying much is it?
Forde is a winger who can't beat his man and put a decent cross in. He's probably worth persevering with though as there may be a player in there somewhere.
Taylor, our record signing but he can't get in the team on a regular basis. He's fast but lightweight and gets knocked off the ball too easily. May do better in League 1.
Vaulks is a real trier who puts himself about a bit but he's quite slow and is often left chasing shadows. If Frecks is fit he'll be in the team ahead of Vaulks every time.
Adeyemi has been the most successful of all the Stubbs' signings and has that happy knack of arriving in the box at just the right time. The problem is he's not ours, will probably want Championship football so will be gone at the end of the season.
And then there's Blackstock with his 3 year contract who you conveniently forgot to mention plus Fry and Forster-Caskey who were shown the door and Scott Allan who would have been if we could have conned anyone to take him.
Not a very inspiring list is it really?
I think Blackstock may be IBJ's agent.
They were the best we could afford !
