7 years today, our nephew James was in Hospital with his brain injury .
From being a good young football, who also did Karate and mounting biking to having to bathed and helped with the toilet at home and college.
We are gratefull to B'ham Childrens hospital for saving his life . I remember to words of the surgeon who came and spoke to all, there's a 40% chance we can save his life but it will be life changing he may be in a vegetable state ( what a horrible term ).
Well 7 years on James still needs a lot of care bathing and toilet. He can talk, it's someone who has a bad stroke, but looking back for the ist 12months all he could do was blink, next 12 months he progressed to using a talking machine.
The Albion foundation have been great giving him a lot of confidence and helping him play wheelchair football.
James has still got his sense of humour. With regards to his Dad,for 7 years with no rest bite has been there for him, slept next to him and done every thing for him ,when he had a 12hour operation he sat in the corridor waiting for him. Don't know how he has coped with the worry and pressure.
We have got a civil case against the drivers insurance, we should hear in the next couple of weeks, the Barrister is confident and they have made a provisional offer to cover James's needs for the rest of his life.
Thanks to all on football mad,for support and donations towards extra therapy in the early stages and for listening to me ramble on when i was in shock.
