Loan System Utilisation

I posted a chart on the socials showing the loan system utilisation in minutes by club in the NL so far this season.

Essentially Dover have used loanees more than anyone else so far, in fact more than x3 the league average.

More interesting is Chesterfield, Dagenham & Wrexham not had a single minute played by a loanee.

I remember seeing a Chessie fan on here recently talking about how depleted their squad has been, well the fact they’ve used no loan players might suggest they have a much bigger squad than others?

Doesn’t appear to be an option to post pics on the NCM mobile platform?

Broadly speaking it would appear the teams that are doing relatively well have relatively fewer (or no) loanees. Is that because a team doing well doesn't see the need to tweak the squad and go looking for loanees, or does it support the theory that players contracted to a club are that little bit more committed to the cause than loan players who know their future will be determined elsewhere? Or neither, or both?

The loanees we’ve signed this season seem a cut above the division we’re in, which has rarely been in the case in our history (with a few obvious exceptions). Suggests the recruitment team are doing a good job.

Talking of which, I see Sunderland had their injured keeper back on the bench today - what are the odds on Patterson coming back to us soon?

No idea about the ''mobile platform'' but the one on the computer/laptop platform is very hit and miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, Most poster use a 3rd party posting site. These seem OK.

The Weymouth statto on Twitter shared a comment from their manager which suggests they have reduced the input of loans to a minimum to try and safeguard against covid infection which was an interesting viewpoint?

Yes I agree with this. I'm all for bringing in loan players who have the right mentality, and want to kick start their careers by working hard and essentially shouting to their parent clubs "look at me and what I can do".

I do think our recruitment team have done well in that respect and we should be looking for loan players not just to be stocking fillers so to speak but to challenge and provide competition to our experienced players and also contracted players. It's good for everyone and keeps everyone on their toes.

What we don't want is loan players who are not going to improve the match day 11 and who are just going out on loan because the manager of the other team does not favour them, or they are recovering from an injury.

Grealish and McGregor are the exceptions and have set the bar high, but there is nothing to say we can't still attract or go for promising up and coming youngsters such as Patterson and develop them while they are with us. In fact it's a good selling point and endorsement for the club that those two spent a good amount of time with us on loan and we provided a platform for them to kick on from.

The goalkeeper from Sunderland absolutely gave us another dimension
Young,fit,eager with ability
He gave our defence a lot of confidence,and when your a defender with that ability and belief behind you,it’s becomes pretty unbeatable.
Slocombe has had moments that scare you,and must make defenders wobble
He is however a good goalie,but who would it be out of interest
