Injury time and Goal Difference

Likely that our league cup chances will come down to goal difference

Against Stenhousemuir we had a long stoppage because of Strain’s injury and a lot of subs

The ref played 45 mins exactly first half and then blew up exactly at 90 mins

What is the explanation for that? Against the part time team we had the chance for more goals

As a sporting contest the ref should play the full time plus relevant injury time

I remember Motherwell had a similar complaint last year in the league cup

Against Buckie we need to win by about SIX or SEVEN to progress

Against Ayr we went back to playing injury time

I hope we get plenty of injury time against Buckie and United show what they can do

REALLY hope United GO FOR IT and try to get lots of goals in order for us to get through to the next round

We really need to score a hatful of goals against Buckie as we are the idle team on Saturday so Ayr and Falkirk will know what they need to do. Both Stenny and Falkirk have put four past Buckie (4-0 and 5-1) so I reckon we need seven or eight to put us in the driving seat.

I don't think we have that many goals in us to be honest.

If Stenhousemuir can beat them by 4 then we should look to match or better that

2 or more goals in each half.

We have some quality players. Moult if he is firing and the Macedonian lads

If we actually target putting in a proper performance instead of being half hearted I do think we can progress in the competition

I get what you say Terry. Whilst there's been a 6, a 7 & an 8 in the sections so far we'll be struggling to put more than one past Buckie.

If we don't progress it wont be down to injury time in a game against Stenny , it will be because we were rank-rotten against a side who were in League 1 last season and who deservedly beat us then only managed to get the 3 points and a second goal against a championship side due to a late wonder strike .

I'm still optimistic we will progress but if that's not the case then I'm afraid there is NO EXCUSE for failing to qualify for the next round of the competition, if that's what transpires, other than our own poor performances IMO

I completely agree.

We blew it at Falkirk but it was probably as tricky an opener we could have got ripe for a perfect storm. An away game on a plastic pitch against a team on an upward trajectory who could very well challenge for a place in The Premiership this season. We have new players who look promising but need a few games to bed in and get up to full fitness. The Falkirk result was disappointing but not wholly surprising under the circumstances.

We will win tonight and finish on 9 points. Enough to go through who knows but if we do miss out by one goal then the no injury time issue could be relevant though we have only ourselves to blame for losing at Falkirk.

Glad we got promoted last season cause it’s going to be very hard to get out of this season.

United for me still are not clinical in the way they play football. If the opposition scores the football played by United is thoughtless and before you know it, it is full-time. When we fail to create anything, we get the lessons learned bullsh!t in the coming interview. Come the next game rinse and repeat.

Why is it we go three at the back this season? Is this the Largs annual revision of the way football should be played? Goodwin should be utilising different formations as I think managers with more nous will suss him out and pick us off accordingly.
