Harvey Barnes

Could he be our answer for RW? I know we need a top RW but we mightn’t be able to spend to bring one in. Barnes is a left winger but is right footed, he likes to cut in from the left and shoot with his right foot. Surely he can adapt easily to the right? Getting crosses in and getting down to the byline and cutting balls back.

Feels to me he could be our best option for RW at the moment.

Ayw, if it was a question of Barnes or Miggy/Murphy, I'd go Barnes.

If I recall correctly, each time both Gordon and Barnes were on the pitch it was Gordon RW, Barnes LW

I’d rather he just rotate with Gordon and have quality options down the left, if it came to it I would rather start Murphy over Miggy every game.

Can’t see Miggy moving, Howe bigged him up recently so unless there’s been conversations internally then he’ll be thinking he’s a first choice with Howe for the spot.

I know it’s still to play out, but if Miggy stays and is out first choice RW next year, then I’m gonna be concerned that Howe’s reputation from Bournemouth and being too loyal towards underperforming players will come to haunt us too.

Up until now I’ve always believed Howe would be the manager to lift the first trophy under the new owners, I’m worried that won’t be the case and if we go through the season and win nothing AND Miggy performs to he norm AND the owners have made money available and we haven’t strengthened the underperforming forward position… then he’ll be gone… and I genuinely like the bloke… but you can be too nice, you can’t expect to have a squad of angels and you have to be able to manage characters to win anything… and I’ve got teams to really see that demonstrated from Howe.

Don’t want square pegs in round holes. Ok, it worked for BigJ, but he couldn’t have been worse there than as a No.9 XD

But I want to see a wide right forward that’s a wide right forward playing there (whether that be a traditional winger / inside forward)

I agree with this.

I know PSR has limited what we can and can't do and, yes. we need a squad and can't replace every first-teamer from last season but Miggy is very clearly not good enough, imo. That being said, most journos reckon that RW is an area we're looking to strengthen so it may well be that Miggy doesn't begin the season as the #1 starter there.

That purple patch of his seems a long time ago but it stands out in his 5 years here as a blip on a graph of disappointing, mediocre-at best performances. With other teams strengthening, if you stand still, you fall behind and, on the RW front at least, we're standing still.

And, yes, there's not a lot else we can expect Eddie to do when talking about a player but, much as his relationship with the players is one of his strengths, it may be a weakness too in this case (see also Longstaff and Burn to a lesser extent).

I still have a feeling that we will go for and get Chiesa for the r.w.

I agree about Miggy, unfortunately not up to Standard to be first choice anymore, BUT we will need a big squad this season and we can’t just get rid of players willy nilly, before signing a replacement, we saw what happened last season, with a small squad. I would therefore not be too unhappy if he stayed, assuming this would not impact on us signing other players.

I;m not against him staying but would definitely worry if he remained first choice because we didn't buy anyone or even if we went down the route we've just done with a striker.

We've talked the Miggy issue to death, the numbers don't lie. Runs all day, big smile, great attitude blah blah blah but the team needs difference makers in those positions. He's proven he is not that man.

With Bruno's inclusion in the leadership group and reaffirming his commitment to the club in the press conference today players like Miggy need to realise who the are letting down. We all know we need a replacement in that position.

If we start the season without an upgrade two pair of them, Murphy and Miggy need to put numbers on the board.

I'm sure the fanbase will not be chuffed if we don't get an upgraded Right Winger.
