I had a mate who died from throat cancer in front of his kids, the whole thing was traumatising and my mate just wanted to go quietly. I would be of the same opinion.
This year my brother who had a terminal diagnosis for lung and liver cancer sadly passed away. It was clear from that experience that there is a severe shortage of suitable palliative care places for those with terminal diagnoses. Nursing homes which cater for the elderly and infirm are not always equipped to give final care to those who are dying. I am concerned that passing the assisted dying bill into law will do nothing to address the inadequacies of palliative care. Often those with a terminal diagnosis need twenty four hour care yet will be in a home where most of the residents are relatively mobile/active. There are really strong arguments on both sides of this debate. It has to be down to individual consciences.
We had a Referendum for such a minor thing as leaving the EU, however, for a matter of life or death our illustriious hand of MPs are voting to decide and we have no say whatsoever.
They should have had a Referendum before deciding to do their own thing anyway.
I am in favour, having witnessed several family members suffering needlessly.
