However, and it's massive however - I'm pretty confident this is all just a ploy and leverage by Jose against Villa.

I don't see this coming off at all, coupled with the fact he's unlikely to get same wages out there I think it's a no goer.

I guess there is a premium for a free agents - more competition, more lucrative psr-wise etc.

On the topic - the board could see this as another Minteh-like instant profit deal and sell him above Howe head. Fuck it, they even can sell them the announcement video!

Also, I heard somewhere that if Kelly is off, the club will go for Diamante from Sporting - great if true

Firstly, 150k a week is nuts imo considering we don't have the psr leeway to throw that much on a backup player - not even first backup

Secondly, from what I've seen I don't much rate him. One thing I really haven't liked is that he backs off as badly as Lascelles giving the opposition player plenty of time to decide what he wants to do

He was a necessary signing with Botman and Lascelles out long term. He can go now.

He was linked with Milan and other European top clubs before we signed him. Can't really judge him as I haven't seen him play, but given his lack of game time, we might as well cash in already.
