Well 57 minutes into it I can't see anything different from previous offerings. Perhaps slightly quicker in possession but no more effective. Tuchel's promises of a more pressing, attacking football must be a work in progress.

Modern forwards just don't want to take on defenders. Unless they can use speed to run past them their alternative is just to pass back or sideways. Where are players like Ted McMinn where a drop of the shoulder or a quick shuffle would see him skip past defenders with ease? Even overweight and past his best he'd be more effective than what we have on offer now. grumble over...
it was almost like watching Burnley tonight but I think we have become more effective and play slightly more attractive football. Good to see Kane score, for some strange reason i like him.

I watched the first 15 minutes when it took us 20+ passes to get over the halfway line before passing back into our own half and then I remembered that Super League was on with St Helens playing Warrington -------enjoyed that and was not bored at all.
I was at Wembley when we won the World Cup, however, I don't think that it will happen again in my lifetime.
I don't think it will happen in any ones lifetime Sub, we invented the game but others have improved on it, same with rugby too, though 2003 is more recent than 1966.Quote:

Watching England struggling to find a way past the parked double-deckers left me with a bit more sympathy for Scott Parker. Tuchel is an acknowledged world class coach but he seemed just as flummoxed by a packed defence as our Scotty is, he had no more of an answer than Scott either.
One thing for sure, Foden on the right isn't the answer, I could stand there for 90 minutes and pass the ball back as soon as I received it, Bowen will surely replace him, he will take the full back on and create problems, it looks like Pep has coached all the adventure out of him, just like he did with Grealish.
