Home Form Suggestion

Ok - the home form is shocking. The play off vibes aren't as buzzing as they could be - but here is my theory - we are actually a very decent team but playing at home has come to mean feeling apprehensive and under performing. The main exception to this has been MK Dons where we went god tier. And this was also when the fans were properly behind them. It feels like the fans have as much fear as the players. What if we properly got behind them and believed in them - not in the Nest but in the actual ground - I reckon we might see the real Notts emerge from the ashes.....

(Other than that at least we only play at home once in the play offs)

There was me thinking we were all behind the team on Saturday and we still turned in a turgid performance.
Maybe, just maybe, the problem isn't the fans.

Neah - I'm not saying the problem is the fans - I'm saying against MK the fans were like totally behind the whole team - whereas it seems like the fans get deflated really fast and go quiet when we don't get off to a good start - I get it that if the team gave us more to get behind them it would help a lot - it just seems a bit chicken and egg - at home we're a bit ****, the fans go quiet, the team gets worse as they feel the flatness, the fans get even more quiet, the team gets worse etc etc.... Just wondered what would happen if we go a bit **** if we kept the support up and if it would lift them as i think Notts are way better than we are actually playing at home....

I suspect that wouldn't have been sustained had we gone down after 15 minutes. The play on the pitch dictates the atmosphere more often than not. This isn't unique to Notts.

So true. The style of play under Maynard does little to take advantage of the sizeable crowds we have been attracting. Perhaps a quicker more forward (rather than passive sideways) style on Saturday will help generate more vocal support?

This. One word sets the situation. Tempo.
When we revert to type, we’re slow and almost painful to watch. Of course the atmosphere feeding off that is poor. When we move quickly with decisiveness, fans react as it literally gets us off our seats.

Home ‘pressure’ for players can only be relieved by players.

Look at Man Utd tonight. Poor first half and looked nervous, slow and ponderous. After the subs…boom. Suddenly the energy changed and they were free flowing. The crowd tbf, were great the whole game, but that’s down to the club. The players released the pressure themselves and looked to enjoy the game when they joined the dots.

Not turning it into a Maynard bash, but I genuinely believe the lack of presence and motivation skills lead us to play like we do.

Christ, the pre Wimbledon press conference is bloody depressing! Talk about putting people to sleep. More fun watching for white smoke at the Vatican!

I just watched hoping this wasn't true, but oh dear, he seems nervous to me

Most frequent word? Frustrating, frustrated, frustrating, frustrating on repeat - he seems like a man expecting to be... ..er....frustrated.

I would also like to know what he means about being 'mindful' it's over two legs (In fact the mention of two legs brought the biggest smile) which he kept on repeating.
A positive coach would interpret that as we don't only have to win but we should try to win well because the 2nd half is at their ground.
I got the opposite feeling from this, and the mention of a clean sheet (there is no away goals rule in this!) that it just means 'keep yourself in it'. I really hope I got that wrong

I hope the players are feeling more bullish.

I've been meaning to post on here though that we do have a really good leader of this squad. At this stage though I don't think the team are looking at SM for leadership. They're getting it from David McGoldrick. The way they respond and look up to him, the vote for Players Player of the Year, his presence and positivity...I think he's much more of a captain/leader figure out there that Matty tbh
I think Didzy wants to really grab this chance for promotion and that gives me a lot of cause for optimism.
