Just watched the preview interview with LB and not impressed with the suggestion that there might be a couple of changes on Saturday. If they are possible injuries, then that's okay but otherwise, not. There is no argument for making changes for changes sake. It's a winning formula. The team are gelling. A winning unchanged team can only get stronger.
One thing to improve though is the second half. We're yet to score after 45 minutes in the 2 league matches so far. Subs need to be made sooner if the early intensity is causing players to flag. However, these need not to be made all at once, which can be another reason for loss of fluency in both second halves so far.
Another issue discussed in the interview was possible incomings and LB mentioned he wanted wanted cover a couple of areas. We all know another RB is needed but we still need more midfield cover and cover with strong legs - stamina wise and not prone to injury. I don't feel there is evidence of Powell recovering his early, pre-injury form.
Anyway, win tomorrow would be a great start to the season and buy some respite for later in the season. Fixtures get harder after tomorrow and the Alex needs points in the bank.
No one else going to predict? Shall I stop asking?
On paper it should be another win if we stick to the same tactics as in our first 2 league games. However 2 things bother me. The dreadfull performance at Stockport with our managements approach and tactics. Secondly LB`s comments after that game where he talked about the possibility of changing the tactics. Sorry LB but your tactical rating for Tuesday`s game in my view would be 2/10.
I can see the possibility of one team change and that would be Golding depending on his match fitness. Only 1 game but he did look like a good signing.
Fingers crossed and hoping for another win.
Few understand what I post here! ;)
I try to read every post but as I don't go to the matches anymore, I think the ones that do have the obvious preference over me.
I think LB was lucky not to be sacked last year after a dreadful second part of the season. To finish 13th in the league having been in the play off positions for months before that suggests something was wrong and I don't know what that was?
But having two good seasons it would have been unfair to sack the management team and they deserve another crack at it. It surprised me to see how many chances we created in the first two games having created next to nothing last season and it may just be the players we now have who are more attack minded than last time. I don't what happens in the second half of those matches when we were so good in the first half and then fade badly. Was that just fatigue that sets in or LB advising the players to play differently? Again I don't know.
Lets hope we can continue with the attacking streaks we have had and that is great if we can.
TBH we get over a thousand away fans and a decent home gate now and yet we cannot see why few or almost none post on these forums and I wonder why as most will have internet access. Why don't they is my question?
Can anyone suggest how to listen to the football match when its not on the two radio channels as don't have a TV and so can't tune in that way if that is the only other way.
Best wishes to all fans and to all our players and our management teams.
I'm surprised how diligent you are gazan in all the posts you do on here with so little response from other fans and as i asked before, where all these home and away fans as they have plenty of time to post messages and responses on boards like these.
I suppose you could argue that we are lucky to have one or two fans that keep the board going!
I think we will win 3-1.
Thanks for your Comments MSB.
Today's game became quite scruffy but full credit for that must go to another atrocious referee. I despair that referees are okay with the grappling, grasping and shirt pulling so clearly on view today (so why at Salford did we concede a penalty allegedly for holding in only 4 minutes?). He also only gave free kicks for the final contact. He even had to think twice as March literally had his shirt pulled over his head.
It happened a lot in the Liverpool game last night - Frimpong must have thought he was in a wrestling ring. He was all over the players he marked. It needs stamping out. It's ruining the spectacle.
They do Mike, just not on this particular board.
The official Crewe Alex Facebook page is reasonably active, and the unofficial Crewe Alex Chat on Facebook is very well supported with lots of posts.
Then there are the two podcasts and various blogs and reports and previews and reviews written, which also generate comments and discussion.
The site is not on the radar for the vast percentage of supporters.
Just done a quick count up on the Crewe Alex chat page.

Started well again, and if Demetreou's header hadn't been flagged offside and O'Reilly twice frustrated by the woodwork we'd have been comfortable at the end. Tbh Crawley never really threatened to stick the ball in the net, even when they were pressing desperately at the end, but at 1-0 you never know.
One comment on the ref - though announced as Young, as the team sheets said, having learned since it was a late change to Seb Stockbridge, everything becomes clearer ....
