Although they have already had a three month break?
Not really a break Norton, They couldn't have a holiday because they had a fitness program to follow, no one knew when they were going to be called in to start again.
Some interesting facts courtesy of BBC Sport.
It is a year today that we started our current campaign with our match against Crusaders and tomorrows match against Chelsea will be our 57th .
The previous longest campaign was by Bradford, who in 2000/01 lasted 321 days.
Should Wolves make it to the Europa League Final on the 21st August the season will have lasted nearly 400 days and will have featured 61 games.
The Wolves players reported back for pre season training on 27th June 2019 prior to the 6000 mile trip to China for the Asia League Trophy which they won.
Since then the Wolves have visited, Armenia, Slovakia, Turkey, Greece, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Italy, covering over 29,000 miles.
48 fans made the trip to Armenia and each one received a letter from captain Coady thanking them for their support. What a man.
We are very much a second half team. We have won 4 games when we have been losing at half time, more than any other club.
If matches had finished at half time we would be second from bottom with 35 pts, 4 above Bournemouth.
The second half alone table would put us in 4th place with 70 pts. City top with 77, Pool 73, Leicester and us on 70.
Since Fosun took over we certainly have had a long awaited good time. Long may it continue.
Psychologically those three months must have been tough I suppose, and staying match fit on your own... our form since the season resumed says a lot about this group of players.
There is talk of the Premier League allowing the teams that are still involved in Europe, to be allowed to have extra rest before their season starts. Our lads could certainly do with a rest.
I think it’s absolutely necessary. I think the fans should also adjust the expectations next year if we do make Europa League again. Unless we bring in 3-4 starter caliber players, I don’t think we have the squad depth to deal with another 60+ match season. Coady and Jimenez in particular have a lot of miles on their legs the past two seasons.
