What's your recollection

Of the 1974 world cup when the guy from Zaire ran out the wall and blootered the ball up the pitch afore the kick.

Remember at the time (I was young though) it was ahh ha ha ha 're them no knowing the rules etc.

Watched a video the other day 're that team and apparently the capt who ran out the wall and did this was protesting at the Zaire govt corruption and was actually capped ump**** times for a team that had won the African nations cup twice.

They had a dispute 're their money with the govt apparently the officials had sniffles it all. They decided to put in minimum effort against Yugoslavia hence the 9 zip thumping then were told if they lost by 5 or more v Brazil they would pay with their lives for bringing shame to the country.

It's no often a video surprises me with a story I'd never heard of before.
