Well - To those who say, ‘go and find a buyer' then I'll say unless owners are actively looking to sell the club then nobody will be appearing quickly in January for starters.
The point is a simple - having a rich owner prepared to invest is NO guarantee of success as pretty much every club in the top four divisions is owned by one or more wealthy individuals & they can’t all be successful. Fact is season after season most of them gonna fail.
Journalist Nick Miller of the Athletic states this is because money doesn’t necessarily make one team considerably stronger than its rivals. “With Man City and Chelsea, it’s not that they can buy players that clubs like Liverpool cannot, but that they can afford to make mistakes that clubs like Liverpool cannot''
Oh' regarding those damn Geordies & takeover shennanigans - the value of the deal to the Saudis was made evident when leaked communications reported by the Daily Mail suggested that MBS, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, sent messages to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, warning him that relations would be strained unless the Newcastle deal was reversed - the deal actually went through surprisingly quickly.
A Professor Murray of International Relations further argues, Britain sold $2.7 billion in arms to the Saudi government, some of which would have likely gone towards waging the war in Yemen and used today.
So, Britain’s arms exports to Saudi Arabia are far more important to the UK government than a sports club,” states Murray. When placed against this backdrop, the acquisition of a football team for a small sum of money is tiny he concludes.
Bloody hell, all I want is a day out with my mates on the terraces, bit of banter & maybe a good humoured argument with another team's nonce fan & if we lose a totally pis**D off return journey home before realising its Villa or whoever next up and breeeeathe.
Funny old game supporting Leeds Utd & some funny folks amongst football ranks - but we coming back for more !
