Laffy, how can the ground problem be solved?

Even if we make the, by no means certain, assumption that a gradual repayment of the debt to PD's Purepay can be arranged
by making an agreement based upon future football fortune there are still fundamental financial problems for 1921.

NC states that in a season without football fortune the club needs half a million pounds more than can be made from normal trading. Indeed in the year to 30th June 2022 there was more than £600,000 of transfer fee income received and the 1921 profit for that year was £33,000. That is a stark truth.

What about Brunton Park? Until relatively recently I regarded the rumour that the use of it is inhibited by a covenant as mere conjecture. But within the last 10 years someone of impeccable character has seen the covenant document and has recently acknowledged such discovery. Therefor given the covenant ("football use only") and the permanent flood risk the value of Brunton Park is negligible. Numerous football clubs had grounds on the outskirts of towns 60 or more years ago. With the passage of time and the expansion of these towns these grounds became near the centre of town and were thus valuable. In order to get a new state-of-the-art ground these clubs could finance a new ground just outside town by selling their ground at a very good price for the vendor. In another 60 years the process can be repeated etc. Morecambe fc is a good example of this. Their current stadium began outside the town but with the expansion of the town it is already on the outskirts.

However, the above is not possible in the case of Brunton Park, as explained. We know that the club's efforts to initiate a scheme with the local authority similar in principle to the Workington scheme have been definitively rebuffed, though this may be whilst the current Holdings ownership is in place. Nobody would want to get involved in a multi-million pound scheme with any entity in which the Holdings buffoons are involved.

Meanwhile Brunton Park continues to deteriorate despite having considerable money consistently spent on it. Not only does it deteriorate but it also lacks many of the facilities of a modern ground which are nowadays taken for granted.
So what is the solution to the ground problem?

I think we have lost the opportunity to do it with the Council if it ever existed-money now too expensive.

The retail angle now dead-has been for at least 6 years.

A 15k stadium would cost north of £25m-inflation on building costs.

Only route is a tycoon building it-remote.Or we sell a player for an enormous amount of money-remote.

Basically no route at the moment.

Anyway, not the time to argue about this or Day-all focus should be on getting behind the team.over next few weeks.
