Heading the ball & Injury risks v Bielsaball tactics.

Have been reading about how football is changing at all levels regarding heading of the ball & techniques implemented on how to jump correctly by position of feet,use of legs,arms & elbows & torso core muscles within the games current rules.

Reading one of Bielsas assessments on this issue he goes into detail on how professional dancers leap & how that observance has become mainstay in his evolving training techniques of how players today head the lighter ball now in use.

Of the potential damage caused to players by heading the ball during matches & training he argues that while old leather balls might have been heavier [because of the absorption of water] the ball now is hit harder & faster & this could lead to even more damaging impacts.

It’s the speed more than the weight that has the significance in this. The modern ball stays light but if you hit it and it travels 'faster' & lands at a higher speed its causing more problems than realised.

CTE is the brain disorder that is caused by repeated head injuries. These brain changes progress and worsen over time and may not be noticed for months, years, or decades after any or last brain injury.Common symptoms include memory loss, impaired judgment, aggression, and depression. Met a bloke in re-hab who'd been whacked on the head at a cash-point with a baseball bat at 18 years old & he then suffered from serious mental black outs culminating in depression,expensive medical costs & a distraught broken family left caring for him.
Certainly not easy for referees nowadays regarding ariel challenges for sure.
For Forwards & Defenders & Keepers it's a difficult call no doubt decision wise as well.

some head injuries are not "heading". Had my bell rung a couple of times with brutal shots that I could not get the head out of the way in time. Those tend to be really bad. also have the issue of elbows and head to head collisions.

I think both of these are overlooked when looking at head injuries and heading
