I think todays announcement is a step in the right direction. However, this just goes to show the massive leap in the financial clout from division to division. League 2 set at 1.5m. rising to 2.5m in League 1. There is then a massive proposed jump to 18m in the Championship. What would the rise be to the Premier League I wonder. Half a billion?!! Something is drastically wrong in our game.
Just supposed that a club in the Championship get a squad together to the limit of 18m salaries and then get relegated. They have got to meet a salary cap of 2.5m with a set of players on long contracts amounting to 18m! How the hell do they manage that?

relegated clubs will get a double whammy. eg, if they have a players who are on say, 10k per week with 12 month left on his contract. the club wont be able to give them another contract so would either have to sell on the cheap or loose them for nowt when there contract expires.... get rid of parachute payments for prem/champ first and shuffle the cash down the leagues
