Good win away against a very good side at Oxford sees us up to 10th but 11 points off a playoff place. That takes it to 19 points from the last 21 available - on a bit of a run but it's a big ask to claw back that margin against the top sides. Need to keep it going with another 2 games this week (8 in the month!) so it's a hectic schedule - fortunately we have a bit more strength in depth now so it's a big test for the whole squad.
Not impossible, but unlikely having left it so late.

A telling week.
Conceding 3 goals in 7 minutes away at Burton put paid to any chance of a win to keep the excellent run going especially on a pitch described by one of their own fans as "a sodden pudding of largely grassless sandy mud".
Echoes of the Morecambe match where we also struggled to play our natural game.
Then Saturday comes along and we're back at the Unibol where the pitch was perfect and was protected from the wind - smash Wimbledon 4 nil and could have had more.
Fantastic team to watch ATM but....
...having a team that is as good as any in the league when playing on good pitches in good conditions simply isn't enough if we can't find a solution to having to grind out results on crap pitches in a hurricane.
Simply put, the weather over the next couple of months is going to have a big say in whether or not we can get anywhere near the playoffs with this squad.

Another Tuesday night win this time 3 -1 against Lincoln - which sets it up nicely for the first big crunch match of the run in on Saturday away at MKD.
Suspect this might be a step too far. Their pitch is atrocious, they have signed quality loanees from Premiership clubs, are playing really well and this will be our EIGHTH game of the month so we are a bit jaded. They couldn't have picked a better time to play us.
But to have any chance of making the playoffs now, we pretty much have to win every game.

Tuesday's lucky draw with Morecambe just about put an end to the speculation.
Despite having 80% of the possession, 25 shots to Morecambe's 4, and 13 corners to Morecambe's 1 Wanderers were simply not ruthless enough and with all the teams above winning it's all over bar the shouting.
Playing for pride now and hoping that the club hasn't gambled too much on getting promoted having spent half a million on transfers in January. 10 games left to try to sort out the problems.

Away draw at Wigan and home draw with Portsmouth have nicely illustrated where we're at as a team - able to compete at the top of this division despite injuries to key players, but lacking steel in the defence and midfield which has been sacrificed to try to play more "attractive football".
Obviously we'd love to have a Declan Rice or Patrick Viera in the middle or a Virgil Van Dijk to partner Santos at the back so if anyone knows where we can find that quality currently playing non-league for £500 a week please drop Ian Evatt a line.
Overall it's been a great season albeit a rollercoaster ride. The footie's been very entertaining, the team has developed and for a first season back in this league we've stabilised - with the basis of a team that could put up a promotion challenge next year with a handful of additions.
Over 12,000 season tickets for next season sold already - and that tells a story.

And so it ends. Despite an excellent run of results in the second half of the season, we couldn’t quite manage to bridge the huge gap to the playoffs but absolutely nobody is complaining.
A creditable 9th place in our first season back in this league and the bones of a good team in place there is a lot of optimism around the Unibol and best of all we’ve been blessed with an attractive style of attacking football that has entertained us thoroughly.
Bring on next season!
