It was a totally embarrassing day pitch and the obvious. Marine, Crawley and Chorley all turned out better pitches recently - groundsman at Chorley slept on there to make sure it was ready for the Derby game. Appreciate Leeds has had poorer weather and local games were postponed (Bfud) because of frozen pitches but I thought ER had underground heating or has it been switched off.
Suggestion on Phil Hay podcast that the heating system is so old it doesn’t really do the job. Also suggested it takes 14 weeks to dig up and relay the pitch as they also need to install a new underground heating system at the same time.
Guess we have to lump it until next season and hope the weather is dry and sunny in the meantime.
They seem to be cutting the grass quite long maybe to hold the pitch together but you could see ball slow on it a lot with longer passes.
Maybe we should ask to play games at Thorpe Arch whilst there are no crowds as that is a decent pitch (said in hope as I know that isn’t feasible as it doesn’t have the facilities to support the media)
One thing is for sure it is not doing us any favours, Having said that Brighton passed the ball well enough..
Most of our bad passes were long hopeful hoofs over the top, grass doesn't impact that.
