I take solace in the fact that Wazzer would not have signed a 2.5 year contract with a busted flush like MM's Derby County who cant pay the players back wages (possibly including his) if he didn't feel confident that the new owners will underwrite the value of his contractual future earnings.
Of course his contract extention may be still underwritten by 32Red, but even so he would not want to walk into a scenario where everyone else's wages are not covered.
So it seems indicative of the fact that the takeover is still on track, or that Wazzer has had some pretty piss poor advice

This news should be a shot in the arm for the first team moral for tomorrow, after all the negativity over the last few days.
If Rooney has just committed to a long contract, then things can't be that bad.
