As the title says-what are your top 3 favourite matches you've seen at St James' Park?
Newcastle 5 Sunlun 1
Just an utterly joyous, mental game. A lot of derbies are tense, tight and, frankly, not very enjoyable because of the stakes involved being so high. This one, though, I never really worried from quite early on in the game and each goal was just a massive explosion of celebration. The whole ground (apart from the one pocket of darkness in Level 7) was on its feet singing, hugging each other, grinning from ear to ear...magic stuff, man.
Newcastle 5 Manure 0
Keegan's team at their very best-team, manager, fans, city all as one...I don't think we could have held our heads any higher walking out of the ground that day. Ginola's thundering curler, Shearer dancing in front of the away fans, 'who the fuck are Man United'', Albert's chip......sigh...
Newcastle 4 Arsenal 4
Just the second half, though. ;) The atmosphere that built and built as the momentum began to swing our way was....difficult to describe...a mixture of relief, disbelief, ecstasy, incredulity....by the end we were laughing at the sheer ludicrousness of it all. As for Tiote's equaliser, only the David Kelly Portsmouth goal beats it for the absolutely unhinged lunacy the whole ground descended into.
Over to you. (you don't have to waffle on like me, though ;) )
