Plan? Plan, you say ...
They're buying that generic book 'An Idiot's Guide to Covid' ! Chapter 5 is all about how to run the SFPL season; it's 2 pages long.
I wonder - and I'm only 'wondering' - if they should be thinking about a 14 - club top tier for next season. A proper finish to this season will be, at best, in the balance for months, and, given the potential for unplanned postponements, a declaration that there will be no relegation, and that the Championship top two will come up might not be a bad option. This isn't like the situation at the end of last season; it's going to go on and on, vaccine or no vaccine. Somebody could end up at the bottom of the league with a bundle of games in hand, a ridiculously short time in which to play them and, let's be absolutely blunt, opponents at the same end of the table who would rather not play.
Last season's 'Hearts' situation can't be repeated; it wasn't fair.
It would certainly be better to change now than open up the debate mid-crisis later on.
But the fundamental problem with 14 remains it's not a positive change, it's just what we have now but worse.
If there was leadership in the league it could be the time for the restructuring Scottish football so urgently needs but no one will take a stand to argue for something bold. Instead everyone in the top-flight will work on the basis that in a season of musical chairs, it probably won't be them who lands in spot 12 when the music stops...
Leadership? Leadership you say ...
You can guess the rest of this shortened rant !
