Well what a surprise, many of us expected a loss after that heavy Bolton defeat at the Valley and after Fleetwood Town equalised. But it wasn't to be as Charlton put in a far better defensive display especially at the end of the 2nd half when they really had to defend deep. All credit to Leko who not only scored the first goal but set up the assist for Stockley's match winner. It's hard to believe this unexpected away win is the first of the 2021/22 season but expectations are much lower these days. It means Adkins will now be given a chance to turn things round but it has to be followed with a decent run and move up the table out of the relegation zone otherwise his position becomes untenable again. But there is no denying that this was a good make or break win and must give the players a bit more confidence in their ability as there some good goal scoring opportunities in the first half to have seen out the match.
