    Aberdeen v Queen's Park

The sporting world's attention switches from Paris to Pittodrie this Saturday, as the Dons take on Queen's Park in the League Cup.

The Spiders had a mixed group stage, with three thumping wins and getting thumped themselves 5-1 by Hibs, who are pish. They have started the Championship with a loss and a draw.

It kicks off at 3pm this Saturday. I fancy the Dons to win 3-0.

Few ex Dandies in Davidson’s back room - Barry Nicholson Asst Headcoach and Steven MacLean First Team Coach

Also Tommy McIntyre as Academy Director. I definitely know the name but can’t say I remember much about him.

What’s the deal with MacLean - I don’t remember him leaving on an acrimonious note, it was just a loan and I thought he got on well in his brief spell at ours but he always seemed weirdly pumped/aggressive when he scored/won against us? Odd.

I mind Tommy McQueen, but not McIntyre. Both played roughly at the same time for us in the mid 80s. Just before I started going to games in 87.

Did something not happen to MacLeans family whilst he was with us. I'm thinking some fans abused his wife at a game or something. Probably wrong though.
I am sure it is on record he hated playing here, but it wasn't a great period for us so couldn't blame any player of that time for not enjoying it. Was even worse supporting it from the stands.

Barry Nicholson I liked a lot. Last I heard he was at an English lower league team coaching, think possibly Fleetwood.

Out for this one. Had something on booked for months, but really enjoyed yesterday so looking for an out so I can attend.

Can't see anything other than a win for us. Such is the optimism at the moment.

Tommy Mcintyre was a central defender i seem to remember which is why he hardly ever got a game

I heard a rumour (unsubstantiated, naturally) that when he did get a game, he became Billy Big Ba’s behind the scenes, and was shipped out to Easter Road.

An appropriate move then! Always thought he was OK for us but never really played enough and since he went to hivs , he was obviously a level below what we needed

My unusual level of optimism lives on and for this one I am going for a routine and easy 4-0 win for the Dons.

According to the BBC, it's actually Airdrieonians that we're playing tomorrow.

A wee aside ...... apologies for my dropping of the 'wine cup' comps ..... the good reason is, that Ah've run short o' suitably matured wines in ma collection.

Thing is, Ah'm gettin auld .... canna drink as much as Ah used tae handle ... so Ah'm nae makkin as much wine as used tae ....

But ... fret ye not ... If we get past Queens Park .... like we should .... errrr ... WILL ... Ah've 'earmarked' a decent bottle or twa tae see us trough tae glory

..... Oh ... and ffs ... if yev previously won a bottle .... it's still here ... it's still yours ... ffs ... gizza shout an' get it oot ma fkn road
