    O/T Supermarkets

Called at a supermarket today for a loaf and a paper, got to the checkout there was nobody on, so mentioned it to one of the staff who said, you will have to use the self service checkout, to which I declined, as I said it could eventually cost people there jobs, but then I was told i get more hours and a bigger bonus if you use them, to which I replied yes but for how long ?. Would just like to hear what other people think about self service checkouts?.

Use them all the time as long as I have stuff that is bar coded. Don't really like the hassle of weighing my own fruit/vegetables and finding them in the system.

Don't forget that next time you board a bus moonie to refuse to get on unless there's a clippie to take your money and give you a ticket.

If you really wanna stick it to da man, go Aldi's - some good stuff in there (when you find it through trial & error) - and no self service checkouts. In fact I'd go as far to say I think they pay their checkout chicks more than what the big supermarkets do

Hate the damn things...always go wrong or announce 'Please take your last item out of your bag' and other folk look round at you like you're shoplifting...bloody embarrassing and such a time waste...

All the firms are doing are cut backs on staff and removing that polite face to face greeting like the old days...and some staff on the self serve checkouts look like you're asking them the earth when you seek help because the stupid thing causes a malfunction and they have to part
