Rovers lost at home to Torquay today, so they will be fighting for their very Divn 2 lives when we play them.

It won't be as easy (or as pretty) as today.

They ain't called the Pirates for nothing.

But if we win next week, then we only need one more point, IMHO, to be absolutely safe, whatever happens elsewhere.

I reckon you can win over 50 points in this division and still be at risk of demotion to the Conference - do the maths yerselves!

Even with Wycombe to play Bristol Rovers I reckon mathematically we'd still need another two points.

ie if Northampton lose to Wycombe but win their last three games they'd finish on 55 points. If Bristol Rovers were to win their last three games (incl Wycombe) after losing to us they'd finish on 56 points. The most Wycombe could achieve would be 55 points.

In practice if we beat Bristol Rovers we're as good as safe. I suspect the number of points required to stay up will be higher than 51.

If we were to win our last four games - and why not? - we'd equal the club record of seven successive wins. Not much of a sequence considering our history.

Postscript: If Northampton beat Wycombe and we beat Bristol Rovers we'd be safe.

Whatever happens elsewhere, let's just carry on giving the team the great support the fans have been doing and make it 4 in a row Saturday
