Does anyone else see the link between our traditional poor start to a season and a pre-season line up of matches that always seems to be as low grade and local as possible? Shurely we need some harder games than this.

I am sure when the full list is published we will see that Awfs has it top notch. Some of the decisions were made before he took over from what I have read though. Normally WLP is the first friendly we undertake, playing 2 teams for 45 mins each. Bournemouth here should be a good test for both clubs. I remember going to Dorchester for a pre season friendly on a Friday evening, Mandarics first game as Chairman. We were well beaten (was it 3.0 ?) and he wasnt best pleased Also Exeter on a Saturday evening away when Blakey was their player coach. Blakey, Blakey give us a goal our lot sang with memories of Plough Lane in our minds

Morning all from sunny Hayling. Here is the full list for those who havent seen it ...


A local schedule before the 2014/2015 season kicks off.

There will be no trips abroad for Pompey fans this pre-season with the club sticking to local games in the build up towards the 2014/2015 campaign.

The schedule will begin with the annual fixture at Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday, July 12th and then a trip to Bognor Regis a week later. Another Isthiman League club in Thurrock are the next opponents on the road with the Es*** tour ending with a trip to Ebbsfleet United.

Pompey will have two home fixtures to end their pre-season with Bournemouth visiting on a Tuesday night followed by Charlton Athletic the following Saturday. A Pompey XI will face Ryan Bird's old club in Burnham on August 5th before the season begins on August 9th.
