    How transfers work with FFP

    Here's a fascinating article that explains how transfer fees work wrt FFP.

    Essentially a transfer fee is spread over the number of years of a player contract (in terms of accounts at least) so if we were to pay ?3m say for a player on a 4 year contract, that only counts as ?750k (loss) for this years FFP outgoings.

    that's always been the case mate. nothing to do with FFP. in reality no club wants to make a large profit and pay tax when it can restructure it's accounts to their benefit. that's the reason accountants have well paid jobs. it's the same for any business really.
